Hi guys. Sorry to repeat what so many have said on this subject before. I’m getting a new system installed so going to buy a couple of new brushes. I work with a SLX 22 and I have a SLX 22 with extensions up to #8 on it for a few high rise jobs I do. What brush in particular would be good for the high rise jobs? Cheers

You don’t want to be rinsing on the glass with a flocked brush it will leave bits everywhere. Brushes are a very personal thing what ever you feel comfortable with will be fine we use the same brushes on ground floor work right up to eight floors .

im a fan of the xtreme sill brushes....i use the stiff versions with hot water(on deep upper  ledges with a carbon 55degree gooseneck)....

My favourite brush is the extreme due to its weight but they are knackered after 3 months.

But best brush has the be the ultimate, ive had the same one for 18 months now and its not even lost its shape, used everyday. Its the most durable brush ive ever had and is the best all rounder ive used.

Its a personal choice but I think the alleged scrubbing power of various brushes that people recommend is a myth. If its for high work just go for something light. At the end of the day its a brush, don't over think it. You scrub the window and rinse the dirt off, thats it.

If you want lightweight, and rinsing on,  then the Xtreme with tapertec bristles has the best scrubbing power to weight ratio.

If you want some 'weight' (some pressure) on the glass, at that height, then go with something heavier.

I cleaned the inside of an office block recently (4th floor) and the contracts manager said it was great timing because the outside had been done the day before; they were absolutely awful!

I use the very heavy unger green hi lo flocked/flagged  sill brush, on a slx 18  (or the vikan same make, red/green) BUT i modify it by taking the back/bottom  3 sets of bristles off it, as well of cutting off the heavy plastic holding them in, in order to save weight. The bottom 3 layer bristles/plastic are a waste of weight imo,  because taking them off still leaves you with a good curve to do the sill anyway. The reason i f**k  about doing this is because this brush  is a very very good cleaner and lasts a lot longer than many others . But the trade off is that you have to rinse off the glass, as with any flocked/flagged brush. Good luck m

For high work the Xtreme sill with it's lowest row of bristles removed is a good choice. Although, I wouldn't go with flocked if you intend to rinse on- or remove anything other than normal, airborne soiling for that matter. Removing the lower bristle row returns the unit to a more 'brush like' ,meaningful and practical product rather than a bog brush-looking, ineffective, apparent sill cleaning effort. The extra one row of 'effective' bristles does add stability and aids cleaning, making it a better option than the standard Xtreme (it also has better jet positioning over the standard Xtreme). Think of it as a Xtreme/Ultimate hybrid. The lowest row of bristles on the Xtrem sill, for me, is pretty pointless and diminishes an otherwise good brush.

Anything below 30ft I use the Ultimate, a bit weightier than the Xtreme granted, but cleans more efficiently.

As you have started a post about using an ultra light pole, I am surprised you are not using a lighter brush (nothing wrong with xline brushes btw).

Unless theyve brought out a new lightweight brush the old ones are just too heavy to use day to day....esp if your using a hi mod pole at awkward angles.....I use my xline flocked for cleaning the van.....its a good brush....

If you’ve used extreme brushes for any length of time nothing’s going to feel the same,some brushes I have in the van used to seem light until I’ve used an extreme for a couple of months and put another 1 on for a PVC wash down that’s when you realise how light extremes are.
