Cleaning Windows with Goosenecks - FAO Alex Gardiner
« on: August 07, 2020, 05:14:47 pm »
So there is this house i do that has a conny at the back with a slate roof, but it has 3 velux windows on the conny roof are of which are flat.  The problem is that up to now the only way i can get access to clean these velux windows has been whilst standing on a 3 tread stepladder to gain some height.

you cant stand back far enough in the garden to be able to get the angle right with your pole from ground level.

Im sick and unable to work possibly indefinitely, so ive got a new worker doing alot of work for me and hes doing a great job, but he refuses to stand on any ladders at all due to an injury in the past.  So theres no chance of him cleaning it the same way i did.

I am wondering if i could get one of those really long neck carbon goosenecks that are used to clean awkward windows.  Do you think this would solve the problem?  Using pole from ground floor with it attached.

Can anybody tell me their experience with using long goosenecks for awkward windows or windows at angles that would normally maybe require a ladder.

I dont want to sack the job off, it has the best view in all of north wales and its a £50 job 8 weekly.

Please see this photo on gardiners website to get an idea of what i mean.

This is directed at anyone, but if Alex Gardiner does see this would appreciate any advice he can offer

Thanks.

Long goosenecks are a better choice than standing on a step ladder but don't use a swivel as it would be more awkward, use an adjustable gooseneck. 18-24 inches should be fine.

Hi jo5hm4n

The long reach telescopic gooseneck along with an angle adapter extender fitted to the end would do the job I'm sure. The only tricky bit would be in seeing them whilst cleaning them.

I have used this setup myself on a flat canopy  :)
