Doesn’t matter how hard it is it shouldn’t read that after RO I’d say it was buggered.

When you first get them they have solution in them which raises the tds initially which passes with flushing and use but for it to jump to 40 all of a sudden is unusual,do you have 2 pre filters.

Bypassing your prefilter will ruin it. The chlorine breaks down the membrane.
You need to change your prefilter regularly to keep your ro membrane working efficiently.
I have 270ppm tap TDS and use a 3/4 year old RO still producing 11ppm.

The RO is shot now...I change mine at 25 anything higher its un economical with resin...

I only flush my RO once a year, I bought a new 40 40 Ro this time last year and its reading 9tds now from 5tds new.

It amazes me how many window cleaners don't really know how their system works or how to maintain it.
