You need the right brush. I have a dedicated pole on the van with a flocked, zero splay brush especially for leaders windows.

As Spruce said above definitely get a suitable brush, I don't mind doing them wfp but I hated doing them trad they could be a right ball ache

Why? Never given a second thought to them nor can I recall having a problem with them..

I have a few customers with leaded windows I just clean them  as normal haven’t had any problems.

Think they’re all single glazed innit. Round here anyway. Old listed properties with families that have lived there for 300 years.
I’ve seen the odd upvc window with stick on lead ribbon, it’s just one piece of glass though. No leaks. Mock Tudor type thing. Naff.

I can remember having a few Pubs with leads back when you could smoke ,they were hard work covered in nicotine horrible stuff to get off , i dont mind the modern ones but  i try to avoid the real old  leads

I love leads they look lovely when they are cleaned it’s not so much the material of the brush although flocked holds more dirt it’s the angle of the outer bristles,the squarer the brush the better it will glide over the lead if you have a brush that splays easily it’s hard work you shouldn’t be able to hardly hear it going over the lead if it’s the right brush.
