Few years ago when there was lots in the Media about tax dodgers (Amazon/Vodafone/Starbucks etc) the Gov promised to get tough on tax dodgers, and HMRC produced a weekly/monthly name and shame list along with the amount they owe.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/publishing-details-of-deliberate-tax-defaulters-pddd/current-list-of-deliberate-tax-defaulters

They're all small fry compared to the large Companies that avoid tax "legally" . Point being its always the smaller easier targets they go after and make example of.

The Gov's friends in high places may well get away with fleecing us. Being paid 80% of your self employed wage for 3 months because someone thought losing a few jobs justifies it is always going to be a hard sell. The bounce back loans are going to be interesting if they don't correlate to a direct investment in the business too and whilst its mooted there is no way they can come back and make you personally liable for the loan amount there is no such guarantee of immunity from a fraud prosecution.

Who said a bounce back loan was for business investment outlet it was to get you through the times ahead pay you’re utility bills wages etc, nothing to do with just putting it back into the business.

Wages for self employed are covered by SEISS grant. Wages for employed are covered by Furlough scheme.
If a "business bounce back loan" does not have to be invested in the business whats it for ? Premium Bonds ?

Think I’ll take it, straight Into savings.

Was still genuinely adversely effected in June and July, and arguably still am now, albeit only about £70 a month down.

As i understand it this new claim is if you have been affected specifically since 14th July.

The bounce back loan was there as a safe guard for self employed people that thought they may need it to get through this crisis as I said,it’s a loan it has to be paid back if anyone has any sense and they don’t need it when next year comes round they’ll pay it back.
It’s been good for some people that needed a vehicle loan at 2.5% with nothing to pay for the first year,I can’t remember seeing anything that says it must be spent on the business if it does a few people will be in trouble won’t they.

The Government lists are tax defaulters. Nothing to do with Covid, the dates are prior to the claim anyway.

June doesn't count; nor does a chunk of July.
It's nothing to do with how much money you're down anyway. You need to have stopped working, really.

Adversely effected will be the beauty industry etc who have only just been able to open. Not window cleaners

You need to have stopped, temporarily stopped or scaled down.

Well I for one was affected for the first grant and claimed. Since I started back I’ve lost a few but gained more which surprised me to be fair.

I won’t be claiming the second grant as I’ve not been adversely affected since.

Those claiming the second grant should compare themselves to hairdressers, beauticians etc and then have a think.
We look at them, they look through them.

No. You need to have been adversely affected by Covid 19.
In your examples even they would only count if they were due to being adversely affected by Covid 19.

Taxi drivers only earn £12.5 per year though  ;)

This is the criteria HMRC are using:

The eligibility criteria remain the same as for the first grant. You will need to confirm your business has been adversely affected by coronavirus (COVID-19) at any time since 14 July.

This typically means that your business has experienced lower income and/or higher costs because of coronavirus (COVID-19) at any time since 14 July.

As the person who knows your business best, we expect you to make an honest assessment about whether it has been adversely affected. There is no minimum threshold over which your business’s income or costs need to have changed. You will need to keep a record of evidence of how your business has been adversely affected.
