Hi folks I’ve a fascia board job today. All looks ok but there’s those rusty coloured stained parts at the bottom of them that you sometimes get. Not sure if it’s left over glue or something that has gone a brown colour with age. Just wondered what you folks use to remove them?

Dont waste time or spend any cash on them Stuart, no matter what product you use nine out of ten times you wont succeed and even when you do you will have spent that much time on them that you wont make any money, just explain to the customer that you can clean the fascia's but the ingrained staining might not come off.
Another thing to remember is these type of problems tend to happen when people haven't had them cleaned often enough so chances are it wont end up being yearly repeat work.

They don’t come off, the stains get ingrained into the plastic. Tell the customer to get them done every year and it will minimise it from now on

If it doesn't come off with a good scrub it stays on imo.

This goes for glass and fascias, whether it's paint, plaster, glue or tape etc.

Unless you have specifically charged for it you are just removing the dirt.

A clean involves removing day to day dirt, traffic film etc. 

Anything else is restoration. 

That's how we do it anyway.

Cream cleaner on the brush head is pretty effective if you want to get stains out.

Gardiner have have a new water fed pad that will likely prove useful for deep fascia cleans. I’ve recently added one to my kit. Looks good but have yet to try it out. Hopefully will in the next week or two so will report on how well I think it works

For me if it doesn’t come off with hot water it’s embedded and I inform them it more often than not needs replacing sections like that.

personally id use CIF CREAM CLEANER squirted directly on my brush,,,,work it in with my water off,then scrub and rinse as normal...this usually works for rust marks on UPVC......if its within hand reach then id also use melamine foam as well...this removes most stubborn marks......

if this doesnt work then ive tried my best....the customer will understand....

Only way to do them right is up a ladder with a good old fashioned bit of elbow grease...

i would NEVER get up a ladder to clean a fascia these days mate..not a chance! .....ill try the pink stuff once my CIF has been used up...ive always found it to be great for stubborn marks myself though......

My opinion is pretty much the same; I get rid of the dirt and that's it.

Having said that you can try:

1. Get an  old brush and cut the bristles down to about 7mm high.  Cut the width of the brush to make it smaller. This gives you a real STIFF brush. It will take the skin off your hand. Rub the bristles in Pink Stuff and then scrub the fascia.

2. Get a 'magic eraser pad', cut it, and attach to a Gardiners Quick Lok fitting, using 2 strong elastic bands. This works well, but has to be wet. Just let the end of the pole hose run free, in order to provide lubrication.

It's never failed me, unless the pvc is ingrained.

Must be that special hot water you use then or your idea of a decent job is different to mine .
