Lost 3 while we on lockdown - decided they couldn't wait so found another cleaner

Everyone else was fine

not sure we've list any domestic to be honest. a few (5 or less) missed some cleans using cv as the reason. we had one internal that we cancelled.

commercial is another story. lost almost all of them. about 25% of my turnover so much more of my profit...

AND lost growth i presume...

And some commercial now want to reduce frequency ...

It’s just because of the interruption.. they start to ‘think’ rather than it just roll on

I think commercial work will change from now on with windows even down to shop fronts,I now only do a handful of shops I used to do maybe 15 weekly years ago.
I know another WC he spends all Friday morning and most of the afternoon buggering about in the high street cleaning shops in everybody’s way,he could go and do a few houses in a fraction of the time and earn more money.
All the shops I know now want to pay online etc, used to be a good bit of cash work doing shops 🤣,waste of time now i feel sorry for people like Soupy that have lost a lot of work due to this bug it probably won’t come back to em.

Tbh I’m not a fan of commercial most of the time it’s aggro I have a few I’ve kept as they are very early and  well paid and have kept going through this, commercial was lovely years ago out early and back early and earned a fortune 🤣🤣.

I ticked 20 plus.

Initially I lost 6 commercials representing about 20/25% of my income.
I lost about 15 domestics - mainly very elderly shielding types plus a few looking to stop for the duration of covid. One I suspect had financial issues as he made a fuss about me turning up unnannounced (I didn't - I posted a letter saying I would call that week but because I didn't phone him the day before he said no and I have taken that as a covid cancellation.)

I haven't chased any of the commercials yet. But one has asked me to go back and price up just external cleaning which will be less than half the monthly income going forward. Another has opened its offices again and asked me to go back in August.

So due to Covid I have lost about 25% income from existing customers.

However I have had a handful of new starters who have seen me out and about including an old dropped customer I have given a second chance to. So over all in money terms I am down about 20%.

I am not pushing to replace it - it suits my move to semi-retirement - but in August I will make approaches to two of the commercials and let the "on hold" domestics decide whether to come back or not. (I suspect most will want to but to be honest I am thinking of telling them that as their houses are so filthy now then my price will double for the initial clean and that prices went up in the period they twiddled their thumbs - that will sort out the wheat from the chaff)
It's a game of three halves!

What sort of percentage is that Soupy, if you've got 20k customers that's but a flesh wound but if you've only got 600 (which I know you don't) its mortal.

Gained a lot more than I’ve lost. The ones I’ve lost are PITA’s anyway.
We look at them, they look through them.

Are you concerned about furlough ending in October.? We, thankfully, haven't lost much but we are almost 100% residential. I am worried what will happen in October though, mass redundancies could be a big problem. What steps are you taking to try and mitigate more losses?
