Changed my 750l upright tank to the same but flat version.

Frees up more room in the van as I can now make use of the room above the tank.

Problem is, the slosh is much worse. Like way way worse.

It’s twin baffled, like the upright, but I’ve now got loads more depth causing front to back sloshing, unlike the upright.

Obviously I could turn the tank 90 degrees but I’d then risk sideways slosh!

Anyone had any joy with kids play balls? Just to stop the slosh?

If not, I’m going back to upright. Way more comfortable! Just annoying as I prefer the practicality of this flat tank.

Try 25m of perforated land drainage hose. You need a lot of those play balls and takes ages to pierce them all with a soldering iron. Imo the drainage hose is quicker and more effective.

Might try the drainage hose then. Just need to make sure it goes past the baffles and doesn’t get stuck in one side of the tank.

Also want to make sure I don’t lose too much ‘water space’

Cutting it in to more manageable lengths so you can get it where you want it helps, tie the lengths together with some slack, that way you can retrieve them if needed in the future. I did this to  650L lay flat tank, the decrease in volume of water was negligible.

Unless you’ve purchased that tank from one of a few suppliers it’s not baffled at all,a properly baffled tank might cost 6-700 quid but you feel the difference as soon as you drive with it full.

Come on Nathan 🤣🤣 plastic balls I’d like to see the scientific report on that test 🤣🤣,plastic balls do not give you a baffled tank unless you put so many balls inside that tank that you can get hardly any water in it.
Fill a glass with ice to the top and then put liquid in you can only get a dribble in,the fluid doesn’t slosh from side to side because there’s little fluid in the glass.

I think Nathan punctured all the balls with a soldering iron first so they still filled with water if my memory serves me right?

Did he lol well he would still need to pack his tank almost full of em,look inside a baffled tank it’s split into sections with a small hole on each sections base allowing water to flow through to each part of the tank when you fill.

You could always just buy the right tank in the first place it might save all the paint on the drivers side of the van when you pull out of a slip road on the motorway and flip over 🤣🤣,Sod that.

Did any of you watch the vid which got highlighted?
My tank was a wydale and many would argue that it is not trully a baffled tank and I suppose younare right. However the 500 ltr tank I had was somewhat baffled unlike say that of an ibc fully open tank?  Therefore plenty of punctured balls either side of the divide, did the trick and worked well for me.  Before doing this, I felt sea sick every time I stopped at traffic lights or a junction. It was terrible

Of course you can buy actual baffled tanks, but I’ve had the upright version for 6 years, no issue.

They have two massive baffles in them to stop sideways slop.

It’s only an issue now as it’s a flat tank with front to back slosh which wasn’t there with the upright version at all. 

It’s not going to flip over - That’s the what the two massive baffles already in there stop.

That’s the beauty of upright tanks Nathan, no such issue.

I’ve been tempted to go back to my 750 upright. But do like the extra practicality of the flat tank.

I’m sure the drainage hose will sort it out
