No idea how it happened but either way im blaming covid for it!

My prefilters and membranes have gone at the same time on our RO System and water was yesterday in tank at 22 but today its reading 30.

I have membranes and filters arriving tomorrow i hadnt realised that we were out of stock.  Feel like a right wolley.

Whats the highest tds you have used and noticed its still leaving windows spotless.

Ive used 20-25 before and had no issues.

But 30+ im getting a tad worried not going to lie.  Ive heard you can use up to 40-50 without any real issues.

Thoughts?  Experiences?

Oh and anyone saying you should only be using 000 or its not pure water and not acceptable, on your bike and feck off im having a bad week and not in the mood!

Is it a smaller RO unit you have ie not a 4040 type? Do you back flush it often? As this will help perhaps.

My tap water was close to 300tds going in and after a booster pump (before membranes) the water came out at 006 and so i never bothered with DI resin at all.

20 ish used to use 000 all time until i forgot to check tds and it was just over 20 so checked alot of my work no problems at all ,and im like you people can say what they like about it has to be 000 its bull ive never had a problem

Thought you did that remember reading a post once about it.  Yeah i use a 450gpd ro system.  Too be honest since covid ive proper neglected it.  Going to replace filters and membranes and then start taking more care of it.  After the ro mine comes out at 008 normally so i use resin but i let it run back up to 8 for months on end sometimes.

Same happened to me, I used 052 for atleast a day, no idea how.

My work that day was a big care home, cleaned all the outsides then drop back on all the internal communal areas.

Spotless results, like 100% spotless. Makes you think doesn’t it.

Mine 120 ppm out of tap after RO 440 4 ppm goes up to 8ppm in summer time don't use resin

Yes Daz, we used 30 all day today no issues at all with spotting.  Tomorrow will probably be around 40, before i get chance to change membranes and filters ready for next week.

Hope your feeling a bit better by the sorry your having some health issues, i know how that feels join the club lol.

I have used about 18 before and only noticed by chance as I checked my TDS,I used to have a normal 40x40 standard membrane and I must have been still using it when it was ruined.
I have an HF5 now and if you have a decent RO setup you should never get into trouble really,my water out of RO is never usually higher than 4-6 and you can clean windows with that fine so resin lasts ages a standard sack should last best part of the year.

I have double di and change resin when it hits 5.
It's false economy running it high with  just double di.
The higher you run it up before you change the resin in the spent vessel the quicker it will start creeping up again.

If people don’t mind using a reading of up to 10 you would only need a good RO setup with 2 pre filters changed regularly,like I say my after RO is usually no higher than 6.

Out of RO at 002 , then through double DI out at 000. The most iv cleaned with is 002

78 from tap. 2 to 3 from 40/40 Down to 0 from RO change resin when it hits 1.

The highest I have ever cleaned in 15 years of making my own was 30ppm and that was unintentional, had a problem with my Di.
Got away with it because it was a cloudy day I think.

When I only made purified water for myself and a mate I wouldn't ever let it go higher than 5-10ppm
Our tap water here in Thanet is around 400-450ppm, very chalky.

Now I make water for a fair number of windies, at my water place in Kent called H2GoKent (cough,  google it, cough) we never let it go above 4 or 5.

The idea that is needs to be 000 parts per billion is a marketing gimmick in my view, but you must keep the TDS low to get a good finish you can trust.

I’ve used Nuclear resin after a DI with normal resin imo I could see the difference I need another sack of it,think of glass that’s been polished before you clean it even better if it’s hot.
Is it needed absolutely not as said you can clean windows with 10-15 upwards.
