Beading when rinsing
« on: July 09, 2006, 07:43:03 pm »
How do you rinse when the water beads on the window?

I keep rinsing and sometimes rinse up to 4 times, covering every bit of the glass with my jets chasing all the beads of water and this slows me up. Is this the right thing to do or can I be confident in just doing the 1 rinse and not covering all the glass? :-\

Thanks Phil

Hi Phil  (its half time)

You are doing the right thing by chasing the beads down but there is no need to do this 4 times.

Providing you are thorough the 1st time with rinsing all you will be leaving is pure water in the beads.  It's all a matter of having the confidence to walk away and trust the process really. Ohh for that lovely sheeting glass that is so nice to do  :)

Cheers

I agree with Andrew , i used to worry my head off about this , it used to cost me lots of time but now i rinse once and walk away , some of them you wince at but providing you have enough water hitting the gass you will be fine , if it isnt right you will get a call and then youll know

I usually turn my flow rate up if i'm unsure but it's down to confidence in the end.
I've never had any complaints as of yet

Hi Phill,

Please don’t worry about the water as it beads on the glass. There are two main types of glazing, hydrophobic (the glass that beads) and hydrophilic (the glass that runs). The difference between the two is down to the manufacturing process or post treatments with chemicals.

Both types of gazing offer good results with water fed pole cleaning, however, when the water beads on hydrophobic glass the liquid forms drops, which take longer to evaporate than hydrophilic glass and the spread water. The longer pure water is in contact with air, the more chance that it will absorb dust and dirt from the surrounding air and this will increase the chance of spotting. This means, as stated, that rinsing over and over again will have little effect and has more to do with weather/site conditions. Once the basics are understood you can work with strengths of WFP and avoid the weaknesses.

Just ensure that all the patterns that the bristles leave on the glass are rinsed away and you will be fine.

Best Regards,

Carl,

Sometimes its down to what has been used to clean the glass in the past. Try cleaning glass after Mr Muscle ( or similar ) has been used on it. You haven't seen beading till you have seen this.
