Total non cleaning hours per week.
« on: June 03, 2020, 01:25:53 pm »
Just wondering how we all compare with how much non cleaning hours we put into a week. Including anything which isn't cleaning or driving to jobs ie file maintenance, accounts, collecting, equipment maintenance, washing the van, quotes, etc, how many hours are you doing as  a sole trader? I reckon I must be doing  at least 5 hrs, although I don't help myself as I use excel rather than a round organiser. I have more and more custys going over to bacs but there will always be a % who want to pay cash.  I'm just curious as to how much the non cleaning hours varies between us. Oh and please use pre lock down analysis as I know collecting is a pure pleasure at the moment but isn't the norm. Cheers.

I think it’s probably much easier to tell you what hours we work, rather than the opposite.

I average 4-5 hours a day at work.

Maybe 30-45 mins a day dealing with emails, calls, texts, & accounts.

That’s it  :)

Driving time eats into many rounds. Constant pruning and adjustment pays good dividends.
It's a game of three halves!

it certainly does malc.....refining and compacting jobs over many years results in a more efficient work day......nearly all my work(340+ jobs) are in a 3 mile affluent area....

Why on earth print slips and invoices?

I have a box of about 3000 printed slips with tick boxes on them. “Your windows were cleaned today.”

Any invoices are emailed.
I never print a worksheet, usually know my round. Van takes about five minutes to fill, might fire up CP once a week. So, probably waste about an hour and a half a week.

i use the CP slips.............with my bank details on,date of last clean, how much they owe so i print them out every day,i do email some invoices for commercial jobs but some prefer paper ones....i do them when im purifying my water straight after i get home from work.....also the printed slips have the customers name on (usually) so i  get a reminder if i forget their name if they come out chatting! ;D

no printed worksheets as i download them to my phone on the CP app....

Bananas are hard to put in the expense column though.

I bet if everyone recorded every minute spent during the week related to window cleaning that isnt cleaning ,you'd get a surprise. For a start, take a look at your profile on here and click stats. I just discovered ive spent 18 whole days of my life on this forum which equates to 30 mins a week i can add to  the total id already looked at. Forgive the intrusion Dazmond but your stats are eye opening... youve spent a total  of 288 days of your life on here  :o,   how many years you been cleaning Daz? If its 20 years then according to the stats you spend between 6 to 7 hrs a week on here  ;) . I guess some may argue this is more of social thing but none of us would be on here if we wern't windys.
