Selotape and black dots on glass.
« on: June 01, 2020, 08:44:22 pm »
There was a lot of Sellotape glue left on a pane of glass on one of my jobs today.
How do you get that off if you are traditional like me of WFP. I wonder if Acetone is good for removal but want to make sure it is safe to use on glass.

Also a few properties had small black dots on the glass and frames which I assume is either Spider or Fly crap, does that come off easily using WFP? What a bout the Trad guys, how do you deal with it?

Keep one of these in the van or pouch.

A quick dab of water and soap and gently remove the cellotape, easy.

Thank-you deegee, I do have a stainless steel scraper in my toolbelt at all times and use it in stubborn bird mess, I tried it on the Cellotape but it just was not removing it and I was worried about damaging the glass.

Plenty of soapy water, microfibre cloth and elbow grease.
The black dots are probably some sort of insect poop.
If it's fly poop and has been there for some time it can be a mare to remove completely.

Sometimes if it's just one window it's worth getting it off for customer relations alone....I spend most of my time splashing and dashing and spending little time at a customers property but occasionally it's worth going that extra mile once in a while.....

It's easy to get sellotape off windows with sticky stuff remover and a sharp razor, takes 2 mins and your customer will be really pleased.....

Wow, some answers on here  ;D ;D
I liked the easy work and being in a situation where you can pick and choose your work and ones on this forum have held various viewpoints on that. Especially texting the night before to make the job easier by not climbing gates, but to leave the window half done isnt right!  Thats taking the pi$$ isnt it.  Sorry, i only clean windows that are virtually clean 😂😂
Not all windows will have a bit if tape on and with the right tools doesnt take that long at all. Wet the window and scrape off most of the time. If not a little soap will help iy along or sticky stuff remover.
However, if a customer has been painting or spray painting their fence and has paint splatter on most or all over one window. I will knock or text to let them know that this clean will be extra  ;D

Haha, yes those were the days.  In a village close to us, (back in the day) used to be a german beer supplier and you bought them by the crate load.  So I did have a decent german beer crate which was great at the time 😁😁
