Hi all, hoping to take the dive into WFP very soon. But in choosing a van I'm undecided about what size to get - a Transit or one a little smaller like a Peugeot Expert. What do you Guys run - and what size tanks do you fit in them?

Hi dave i have just set up a peugeot expert with a 400ltr vertical tank and i must admit it takes up more room than i expected, but having said that for a solo operator i think van size is sufficient.Drew

I run a nissan vanette 2.3 diesel. I only have a small 250l tank in the back but I also carry a trolley system along with 4x 25l containers. That gives me 350l of water.

I think you could fit a bigger tank if you wanted to!

P.S The vanette is really handy as it has 2 side loading doors. A lot of the new vans now only come with 1.

Hi Dave. I run a T4 lwb. 650ltr van mount. 

Shes lovely to drive even when fully loaded with plenty of room left. It all depends on what you want from your van.  They're all good vehicles for working out of that have been mentioned on this post.  My advice is as you're driving around if you see another wfp'er, pull over and have a chat with them, at the same time you can have a look then it will give you an idea of what you'll get out of that van. I still pull over and have a chat with other wfp'ers so i can see if next time i'm going to change my van i'll stick with the t4 or change to something else. Hope that helps.

Dave , its the original VW 12mm ply floor , the van was owned by an engineering firm before me , the floor is saturated with fork lift oil , you should see the water when it hits it , it just flies out the back door !
 Its well sealed around the edges too .

.Decide what tank you want first then chose your van.

If its 400 to 500 ltr tank then a pug expert, but you dont have a lot of spare room.

I wanted a 800ltr tank, I  have set the van up for two people working. The tank suits us fine we have not run out of water yet on a days work in 6 months,though it as gone very low at times.

I have a fiat ducato,which was brand new and cost me about £9500.00 incl VAT.

It  has abs brakes,RCL, 3 year warranty. A lined steel bulkhead and a 1145kg carrying capacity. I can carry 8 poles in the van and I have loads of room. Heres a pic.

Hi Dave. We are selling a 650ltr system and A 02 FIAT DUCATO VAN. We get all our kit in and poles. No problem. Give us a call if interested.

go for something like the transit,hiace .then you will have more water if needed.i know i use a 750 system and that only just does it some days.

THanks for the posts, fellas. I think it would be better going for a bigger set up - The potential is there then for larger contracts in the future. I've been doing some van insurance quotes and, ironically,  the bigger vans seem to be as cheap, if not cheaper than the smaller ones! Weird!

I run a 60psi flowjet pump for each pole.If you look closely at the photo you will see 2 pumps. Their behind each hose reel.

I was out looking at a Fiat Scudo 1.9D earlier today, has anyone here got a scudo/expert/dispatch?   If so what do you think of them?  This one was a straight diesel, no turbo.

i have got the despatch with a 400ltr upright tank fitted and i love it, 3 front seats 2 side opening doors 815kg payload perfect for me and my son.

I'm thinking of putting a 650ltr tank in it
700kg (inc tank)
100kg (me) - Think Fiat stats incl driver but taking no chances

Doesn't leave much, maybe I should go for the HDI?

Or just not fill the tank.
