I can see it now ....tax man :  were you adversely affected during the 3 months after the first payment?
Window cleaner : yes .... I thought I might lose Mrs smith from number 10 spank street later in the year, and I might have lost business in the future.
Tax man: ...... ...... Your books show you were doing pretty good. so you weren’t affected . Il have that money back thank you very much.
Window cleaner : ..... oh , I spent the money on a massive leaflet drop , hot water system and a new van 😢

If that were true then of course it would go in the expense column of your accounts and thus reduce earnings for the year.  :D

Exactly! It was money not needed but claimed anyway

That’s the thing this money is supposed to help you get through this crisis and window cleaners are spending it on hot water systems and poles 🤣🤣,they are also putting down against Tax nothing wrong with that on the first grant they couldn’t work supposedly but it was fine if they could fair enough.
Let’s go to the second grant totally different ball game here if you apply yet again, you’ve done the above but in August you are saying you are still struggling,if that doesn’t look dodgy water at 200 ppm is fine to clean with 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When all this calms down and the civil servants have more time on their hands they’ll be checking all the files that the algorithms have found 🤣,keep that second grant in the bank for when it has to go back eh 😉.
This bloke got 1000s yet he went out and got a new van or he went on a 12-15grand holiday 🤣🤣 he deserved his grant, some people think the Tax mans daft.

It’s a pity this site doesn’t use algorithms to detect inaccuracies. I’m sure you would feature quite regularly🤣🤣
Mind you there is really no need for such a facility, a quick search on your profile does the trick 💩🤣

Simples NWH
You stop work in Aug. Take three weeks holiday, sit on your arse like the millions of furloughed workers. Take the grant and Bob’s your Uncle.
You don’t seem very bright.

"Inaccuracies", I admire your diplomacy. Flaws in my character would have had myself using terms I would most probably regret after the event!!😁

Somebody posted a screenshot on Facebook of the government requirement that claimants keep evidence of business loss. It mentioned bank statements to evidence the loss of income. It doesn’t apply to me, but it looks like the criteria is different?  Worth investigating before claiming anyway.

I reckon there could be different criteria required to qualify for the second grant?

You still haven’t answered it, you are making a joke to deflect from the actual answer, so I will assume that you did claim even though you carried on working and now you are slating those who are going to claim again.

Am I right?

''You should also keep any evidence that your business has been adversely affected by coronavirus such as:
dates you were unable to work due to coronavirus symptoms, shielding or caring responsibilities due to school closures''

Dear Sirs ,
My income increased  during the virus because of all the extra fascias and conservatory  cleans I had to do. It was great. However, I was adversely affected by virus symptoms for a few days. I had a terrible cough and shielded for a week. Please can I have the second instalment?

Well this is my view.

I'll see how things are in August.

At present I have lost about £750 per month in commercial work and a bit of domestic. Of that a glorious £25 has asked me to restart in June.

I hope most of the rest will ask me to restart in June/July or August but who knows whether they will still be in business? I'm hopeful but not at all sure.

So at the moment with the SEISS grant i am up on the deal and still would be in August. But if that work "never" comes back then i have lost it for September through next March and of course beyond. So let's say i have lost 12 x £750 - that = £9,000 over the year arguably down to Covid.

I don't envisage it being that bad. But who knows. If the economy tanks out then I might find myself losing more domestics.

I'll think about it in August but I'm minded to take the grant unless I am back to "normal" turnover by August.

Wow....I'm sorry to here that malc.....👎......that's a large chunk of money to be missing out on per month....I dont blame you for claiming for both grants...I would if I'd been affected to that extent...

I would say your situation is in the 'being adversely effected' category without a shadow of a doubt....
price higher/work harder!

If they are a week down in turnover I’d say the claim was justified. Might easily be £1,500 revenue for some.
