I can see it now ....tax man :  were you adversely affected during the 3 months after the first payment?
Window cleaner : yes .... I thought I might lose Mrs smith from number 10 spank street later in the year, and I might have lost business in the future.
Tax man: ...... ...... Your books show you were doing pretty good. so you weren’t affected . Il have that money back thank you very much.
Window cleaner : ..... oh , I spent the money on a massive leaflet drop , hot water system and a new van 😢

If that were true then of course it would go in the expense column of your accounts and thus reduce earnings for the year.  :D

Well this is my view.

I'll see how things are in August.

At present I have lost about £750 per month in commercial work and a bit of domestic. Of that a glorious £25 has asked me to restart in June.

I hope most of the rest will ask me to restart in June/July or August but who knows whether they will still be in business? I'm hopeful but not at all sure.

So at the moment with the SEISS grant i am up on the deal and still would be in August. But if that work "never" comes back then i have lost it for September through next March and of course beyond. So let's say i have lost 12 x £750 - that = £9,000 over the year arguably down to Covid.

I don't envisage it being that bad. But who knows. If the economy tanks out then I might find myself losing more domestics.

I'll think about it in August but I'm minded to take the grant unless I am back to "normal" turnover by August.
It's a game of three halves!

You jealous or something Nigel? Sounds to me like you've been cooking your books for the last 3 years and are reaping what you sown🤣🤣
You're so overly concerned what others are claiming it sounds like bitter envy!😄
No m8 it doesn’t take me long to go out and earn 6-7 grand.

I’m not eligible for any grant due to being paid by a limited company, however:-

NWH assuming that everybody is a sponger for accepting this grant is a bit short sighted, but yeh he’s probably never declared any income anyway, certainly not the £500/day he claims.

I lost around £5k in income in April and May and I think I’ll be down around £800 Month in June and July, August who knows? Would I claim this if I could, of course I would, I’ve been adversely effected, as have many on here.

Let’s stop assuming that we are all in the same situation, we are not.

Can you not read? I worked every single day during the ‘lockdown’, I didn’t stop. I had around £2k/month of commercial on hold which meant I was out of pocket by that amount.

I declare and pay tax on my income too, do you?

I didn’t take many days off no only in the very beginning what for never saw a soul, people are starting to realise what I’m saying it’s not free money do you honestly think they are just going to keep paying you out because you say you’ve lost business.
Believe it or not you’ll have to prove at some point you haven’t been working or earning during this time,if you get a lot of cash work then you’ll be fine but then what would be the point in putting a claim in for next to nothing.
If you have all customers on Gocardless they pay straight into the bank so that’ll show, there’s a lot that will just take a chance and they may be fine but if it ever gets looked into make sure you’ve got what they give you put by coz it’ll be going straight back to em.

I bet nearly all the ones thinking of dipping into the treasures wallet haven’t got an accountant 🤣,a decent one of them would not advise you to do it.
Alright some of you lot filling the old tax return in online it’s very tempting to say this and that,if you get a pull better to go to the Tax office   with a bit of help sitting beside you.

I tell you what Peavey when the next batch of grants go out they will be looking into them at some point that’s a given maybe not early next year maybe not half way through next year but it’ll happen, when they do and the computers algorithm  picks em up they may get a letter.
Don’t forget it’s not a bloke looking over you’re tax return these days it’s computer program,it knows who pays you and if you have a cheque or payment that goes somewhere else from this person ie another account etc made out to you it knows.
It tracks all the names that pay you roughly how often if that stops or starts again it knows, all you’re transactions and spending habits are tracked.
There is a way round it stop spending any money from where you bank and get nothing paid into any other bank 🤣🤣🤣.

If you put in for another grant your spending habits would have to drastically change from now till August and thereafter if you can manage that go for it.

NWH you make me laugh.  ;D

Seriously though........ did you accept the first grant?

Is it just the second grant you are against?

Trying to get my head around your viewpoint here to be honest.
