NWH, are you obsessed with this by any chance?

I’d bet he just wishes he’d declared his income so he would qualify.

honestly who gives a f**k? ::)roll ;D

claim/dont claim........but if you ve had no drop in income and claim for both grants  dont be surprised if HMRC pull you up on it at a later date.....dont forget you will have to pay tax and NI on both grants in the future as its classed as income.......

This is what people may forget. They can take the tax out of the grant now and put it to one side, but if they have carried on working and have the grant on top of their usual income, they are going to be due a huge tax bill the following year as payments are based on previous years earnings!

It has nothing to do with a drop in income, trust me.
They have given their conditions and they don't mention income.

The lack of any specific, measurable reductions in income is intentional. The taxpayer should keep evidence of the impact on their trade, but there is no link between the amount of the grant and the financial loss.
From the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

But you need to be 'adversely affected'.

It may not be huge unless it tips you into the next bracket,it depends on what % you pay now and if you are doing what you would normally do work wise.
