Im defo applying again.

Our business is fully back to business on 1st June.  However all of our commercial work is still on hold, and i dont see that changing for atleast another 1-2 months.  Plus we have lost customers due to some customers losing their jobs etc..

So which ever way you look at it, our business has been affected and still is to an extent.  When this is all over, who knows maybe there will be another recession on the way or large tax increases.

If there is money on offer, i'm taking it.  You don't know whats on the horizon.

Yeah great apply again in August and then when they pull your Tax return and see you’ve been working it won’t look good.
If you have needed the money thus far fair enough but to claim money again if you are able and have been working imo is morally wrong,Jesus don’t you earn a lot of money.

I'm breaking my own rule here by speculating.
But surely this time around there will be certain criteria you must meet to be eligible.
The soft lockdown restrictions are gradually being lifted. For example, cleaners are allowed in peoples homes.
Most, if not all tradespeople are back at work.
This additional help is/should be for the self employed who are in businesses that have not been able to operate on any level whatsoever e.g. barbers and hairdressers etc.  or a mate of mine and his mrs. He's a chalkboard signwriter for pubs and resturants and she's a childrens entertainer for birthday parties etc. Both have earnt nothing since March and are unlikely to for the forseeable few months.

That’s fine but you are extending it because it’s supposed to be because the business is suffering,if you’ve been working and will continue to work how will you justify the fact you’ve been earning.

I would say that if a window cleaner or say landscape gardener were to put a claim in it would be looked into maybe it wouldn’t who knows, the thing is I wouldn’t want that hanging over me for up to 4-5 years thinking that it could do.

It won’t take a NASA engineer to look through you’re Tax return and see that the turnovers not changed much after the first 6-8 weeks of lockdown,to then apply for more of a grant because the business is suffering and you will be applying and saying that it’s suffering.
How does that look on paper hang on this bloke said he needed help here, but I’ve checked his Tax return and not a lot has changed lol, hang on I’ve looked again and he’s applied again 3 months later 🤣 each to their own if I was working in the Tax office I’d have a field day looking at all those computers showing me the doors to knock.

Currently, Im not planning on claiming this next one. We have until August before the claim is made. I’ll review the situation then.

For once I agree wtih NWH.

First of all just because someone has "carried on working" doesn't mean there earnings are the same.  Yes there are lots of you on here who have made it clear your turnover hasn't been affected at all, infact you have gained customers.

Some of us though have had turnover affected.  My turnover is down by 40% at present, and even when fully operational it will still be down by 10-15% minimum, which will then require investment of time or money in order to get more work in to replace that affected by covid situation.

That means i am losing money, regardless of how little or big the amount is.

That is enough of a reason for me to claim without feeling guilty or like i am morally doing something wrong.  People have done far worse things in this life and get away with it every single day.

My conscience is clear on this.

I hope whoever claims this time round gets  investigated from HMRC . This money should go to the self employed who can’t work at all , like the hair and beauty industry.  Not window cleaners who can work and things are on hold or have lost a couple of jobs. I bet even with these lost jobs , your still doing a hell of a lot better financially than other self employed who are not allowed to work until July! Absolute disgrace and some of you don’t pay tax on ALL your earnings and now you think you deserve the pay out.

I totally agree. We 'declared' that our business has been adversely affected by Corona virus. ATM I'm working my backside off trying to clean all my residential customer's  houses. My turnover will be about the same this next quarter without the commercial customers we have lost.

One of my customers died of the virus, that’s £18 every month down the pan.
Therefore it’s affected me.

What about the furloughed people with second jobs now working alongside supermarket workers and taking their overtime?
No morals for them.

Upon reflection this morning I have decided to take a look at my past 3 years turnover figures for Mar/Apr/May  against this years Mar/Apr/May , I have a feeling that the first payout may well have covered my losses so far , and maybe even for the next 3 months that the second round of SEISS will cover .

I am definitely down for sure pre payout , but I will do the same for Jun/July/Aug and make a decision on whether to claim again or not .

Let’s not forget that worse may be to come yet regarding people’s employment status as the lockdown is lifted and employers weigh up how to run things for less in future.

We could well be needing this second payout and not know it yet !
