One of my customers called this morning saying someone else has turned up and started cleaning her windows saying they were from my company. She sent him packing.

Complete scam.

Should I be worried that this nice fellow will be targeting all my work or it's just a one off?

Guess there's no way of finding out who he is either.

Local guy that knows you shut up shop for a while?

Bit weird.

Don’t worry about it and crack on. If it happens again then tell all customers not to pay anyone but you.

Is this the job that you need to use your pole whilst stood on the ladders? Let him have the job if so 😂

Had this before and he started knocking doors for payment saying he collecting for the window cleaning and your 3 to 4 cleans overdue some paid him because the wife had gone out and the husband is usually at work but knew they had a cleaner but never met him so they paid  fortunately the wife's told there husbands off and I got paid anyway      now online payments no issues

But many window cleaners have tried all sorts even saying they have taken over the round   weird folk   about

If you work on your own, just send out a text to all your customers warning them of the scam going around and that you are the only person they should see as you don't employ.   Advise them to report anything suspicious to the police.

Report to the police yourself too so they have a record on file.

I had this once a year or so ago.  Thankfully in my case it only effected one of my customers as far as I could tell (I had a few more in the same road who didn't mention anything so presumably they weren't targeted).
