I'm thinking about knocking conservatory roof cleans on the head.

I hate doing them. Takes ages and is physically a lot harder than window cleaning,

Also customers don't expect a high price, I guess because they don't realise the work involved.

Anyone else stopped doing them?

it just depends...if they are easy access and pitched then yes if they are willing to pay.....most dont though because they think the price is too high......

a very slightly sloping glass roof with hardly any fall whatsoever and high up enough to need poling from a ladder?.......no chance at any price!same for pitched roofs that are sloping towards the house on one side and bad access......

I love them, tbh it usually works out x2 the regular window cleaning rate p/h

but if you hate doing them decline the work or charge more for the grief - either way your better off

We don’t  like them but starting prices for  a glass roof are from a £100 upwards we dont get all we price guessing probably 40-55%  but they are priced well so happy to do them , usually they are done with a gfs clean as well , so a good add on .

You cant mess around.. to do a good job you're going to spend alot more time and water (even if you use thier tap) you'll still use more water for rinsing. Just charge appropriately and you may enjoy them a little more.

stop doing them if it makes you happier in your work life.....i dont clear gutters out or do inside window cleans anymore because i hated doing them......

I agree (exceptions below).

But I am getting older and want less wear and tear on the body and so am looking to stop and sell or rent on my 4 storey stuff. I think part of it is pricing. The customer doesn't grasp that a green conny roof is a lot more time than repeat windows and I find it emotionally hard to educate them that they are looking at £100/200 rather than £40/£60.


Exceptions.

Customer who has a lean-to roof washed every 16 weeks (every other time) and another who has a tiny conservatory lean to included every time.

If it's regular and lean to (easily accessible) and opaque then OK.

I never stop doing anything I can do if I can’t do it I’ll get someone who can,I don’t want anyone going to a property I clean that does the same job as me ie windows,I’ve got a slate roof to clean + facias and soffits etc ill get someone I know that normally helps me about 1050-1200 worth of work easy money.
Hot water makes conservatories easy work.

I walked away from an fsg job this morning.

Cleaned a customers windows £15. Put all stuff back in van, then he came out saying youve forgot to do the fascias.

I said sorry I forgot I said I would do them, how much did I quote?  ( I vaguely remember the convo but this was before lockdown)

£30.

Oh ffs why did I say £30  ....

So I looked at it and just sighed, can't do all that for £30, plus it's red hot i really cba. Plus I've just cleaned all his windows and im going to have to do them all again.

Anyway just as im trying to get the words together he hops in his car and says I'm off out ill transfer you the money for windows and fascias later.

So I'm stood there on the drive just looking at the job, I gave the front a little tickle in the hope the dirt would just melt away and perhaps I could bang this out in half an hour.... It's just didn't come off easily.. I reckon at least and hour and a half plus re cleaning all the windows...

b******s to this, slung gear in van and drove off. I don't care if he bins me off I'm not doing that in this weather for that price. Loads to do as it is today I don't need that.

Moral of the story, I always regret taking on add ons, they crop up on a day like today when I've got loads of windows to do and it's baking hot.

I hate them and I always quote them way too cheap, I darent tell them I want £100 plus lol so I end up saying a daft price and getting myself into it.

Add ons are just not worth it unless you getting way above your hourly rate.

It is awkward sometimes when you’re thinking say £100 plus & the customer’s thinking an extra tenner!

I do find it hard work too as I am getting older.
I would rather just clean windows and I also do not mind cleaning out gutters but FSG and Conservatory roofs I am finding it harder to do these days but as I do not have enough window cleaning customers I am still doing them.
