Nice.

Having spent 2 hours on the phone with vin when I rang him for some advice just before lock down, I can confirm he can talk.

Even with a mouth full of fish and chips  ;D

I have a lot of time for Vin.

This report sounds like they are referring to me;

When window cleaner Vin Kennedy goes to work, he knows that he'll be spending more time talking than cleaning.  That's me!  ;D

That's why he charges £35 for a 3 bed semi!😀

10 mins to clean the windows and 30 min chatting!

When you are in business and franchising you have to look for every way you can to promote your service.

He was working for security (alarms) company before he started window cleaning 10 years ago so knows that you have to make and take every available opportunity to promote your business.

He spends a lot of money on advertising and customer canvassing. He also has a website. If there is something free (assuming this is free) then you take it.

I have never been able to understand how he gets the prices he does. There was another cleaner working the same area as Vin does complaining about how difficult it is to get good paying work.

Figure that out. It isn't as though his business is shrinking - its growing.

Yes but vin is getting paid to talk with his prices.

When you are in business and franchising you have to look for every way you can to promote your service.

He was working for security (alarms) company* before he started window cleaning 10 years ago so knows that you have to make and take every available opportunity to promote your business.

He spends a lot of money on advertising and customer canvassing. He also has a website. If there is something free (assuming this is free) then you take it.

I didn't arrange this deliberately. In passing, I mentioned to a friend that I was finishing late every day through lockdown due to extended chatting with customers. She mentioned it to a journalist friend of hers and they contacted me to ask if they could film me. They expected to spend a day with me but as soon as they had filmed Brian who was only the second customer of the day the journo just laughed and said they didn't need a moment's more footage as it was pure gold. Most of the bits to camera came from a half-hour conservation while I washed one patio door over and over (and over and over) again.

*You may be mistaking me for someone else - I was in IT sales.

What was/is the governments 'exception' category?

I think it referred to the advice that tradesmen could work at customers' houses if they could socially distance.

I've had dozens of texts from customers who saw it. They all seem to have liked it.
