paid in advance
« on: May 25, 2020, 03:11:02 pm »
picked up 2 new jobs today, 1st one was £60 and the second one was a 2up 2down semi at £15,
the £15 job gave me the £15 for the first clean and gave me another £100 in advance
it's a 4 weekly clean so that will keep her in credit for some time to come

It's great when you get customers like that......😀👍

I used to have a guy who used to pay 12 months in advance every year for years until he moved.....

I don’t like it.
Always feels like I’m doing the job for free 😀

I hate it as well, it's bad enough owing someone a clean but a years worth i couldn't cope!

In fact last week I cleaned someone's windows, knocked for payment and he reminded me he had paid double last month.

I was gutted, felt like a free clean.

Hate it.

Much prefer the money coming in on the month, that way I’m not tempted to spend it and then feel like I’m cleaning it for free!

I had the same a bloke wanted to pay me for the year I said no,I know it sounds daft but you feel like you are cleaning them for nothing after a few cleans 🤣.
He said to me I’ve got nothing to spend my money on I’ve just retired I live on my own I can’t go out nothings open let me pay you for 6 or 8 cleans,I ended up letting him pay me for 3.

Know what you mean.
When I get a payment up front I put it aside and take the money out after each clean. Just a simple part of monthly accounting. Playing it safe and doesn’t feel like doing a freebie for whatever period

All I can say is some of you must live on the edge financially if this sort of thing bothers you.....

It used to bother me too many years ago but only when finances were very tight.....

It wouldn’t bother me.
They could pay me two years in advance if they wanted to.

Got nothing to do with finances, it’s just a mentality thing.

I just ‘seems’ like you’re doing it free.

I’d rather get the money per clean to even out my salary...

Exactly what I do. Very helpful if you have customers that are hard to find home and don't have the facility to do bank transfers. Saves a lot of wasted time trying to collect it. I just text them the balance each month

I hate it too. I have one on standing order and because I get behind he’s 3 cleans in credit. The reason I accept it is because he’s out of work and it’s better that he still pays this way rather than paying per clean as he might then decide to stop the cleaning.

i have a few on standing order and i always make sure i get them cleaned not long after payment.....if they ever got 3 cleans in front because i couldnt clean for some reason id be refunding him 2 cleans no doubt about it(cash in an envelope through his door)as you ll never catch up as your getting paid every month on a set date.....

do the decent/honest thing and give him 2 cleans money through his door.......

I have in the past told him to change to BACS after I clean, but it fell on deaf ears. And no, I won’t diddle him Dazmond.

I wouldn’t give them cash back in an envelope, that would leave you out of pocket as you’ll pay tax and N.I on the money that’s went through your bank account. So if it’s a £20 clean and you give him £40 back for 2 cleans that’s gonna cost you £11.60 assuming you’re in the 20% tax bracket.
I would ask for their bank details and transfer the 40 quid back to them.
