They're all cheaply made in China. Imo there's really no difference in the quality of most of them.  The one Gardiner sell is made by Kobold, they just get their logo printed on it and supply it with the fitting we like and a UK plug.

Hi BK

Whilst most of these sprayers are made in China, they are not all from the same factory or use the same components.

Just to clarify our backpacks are not made for us by Kobold  :)

Fair enough Alex. I've bought backpacks from you in the past and from ebay (branded kobold.) Visually though, I could not tell them apart hence my comment.

Hi BK - If you bought an old V1/V2 from us, from about 8 years ago - then that was manufactured by Kobold  :)

At least I haven't completely made up or imagined it then. But thank you for the clarification.  :)

Just bought one too, got to be worth a punt at £40.

Just to update, it arrived today, and is ping water through the bottom where the pump is, its also 16 litres not 20 as stated
which doesn't bother me but not good when advertised incorrectly. So maybe wasn't worth a punt. Awaiting reply from supplier.

Its pretty much the same thing as the mobi bike pressure washer on wiggle.co.uk , its on special offer there for £99 and free delivery, you'd just have to cut the lance off and put on your own fitting. I'm not sure eiher of them have a variable flow control setting though.

Ok, so not great but it can only be something simple like tightening up  or replacing a jubilee clip.

Electrical junction box big enough to fit a 7hr battery or higher and a cheap chinese pump. Stick an on/off switch on it.  Attach to a trolley and add your drums and away you go.
All you need is some time in an evening after work to put it all together and the next day you have a trolley system.

Do you know when they are likely to be back in stock Alex? are we likely to find that certain window cleaning equipment is going to become unavailable over the coming months due to lock down of manufacturing and the supply network across the world? are there certain items that it would be wise to stock up on now as we go forward the next 6-12 months?

All of these backpack sprayers are cheaply made with similar components.

I have a 16l ebay one that cost £40, I've had it years and it's never missed a beat.

In that time I've had a facelift big boy which cost £100 and broke in the first week I've also had a wcw one which dropped to bits also.

The cheap ebay one however has outlasted them all.

I don't believe any of them are any worse/better than the other they are all essentially the same components and it's pot luck how long they will last.

But luckily they are cheap to fix, £10 for a pump or battery and a few quid or pence to replace any switches or fittings etc.

The facelift big boy was way too heavy, I find the 16l a much better size to carry about.

Hi Simon

As mentioned on the product page we are expecting the backpacks to be available by Mid-July - could be a little sooner, but difficult to say at this stage.

Is the lock-down affecting production? It has affected certain goods already - the last batch of backpacks were delayed by about 6 weeks due to factory closures in China in February/March. This created a backlog in demand so that when the shipment arrived they were then in much higher demand - combine this with more people wanting sprayers for other purposes and the batch did not last long. This next batch should sell at a slower pace and we have our next production run all planned so for the backpacks the only issue we have is 'catching up' from the previous delays - there is actually no issue with production now.

Apart from the backpacks the only other major supply issues have been:
1. Hose -  Hose production suffered about a 2-3 month pause in this country. Fortunately we had a very good stock of hose which we have been working our way through and production has now re-started just in time for our stocks levels.

2. Extra Large size of Biodegradable Nitrile Gloves - getting hold of these is becoming more difficult now - we started off with a very good stock of certain sizes which is why these are still in stock. This is due to high demand and not a problem with production.

3. Not something that most will notice, but cardboard has come under greater demand and a supply shortage so we have been having to use different cardboard packaging than usual for the last week or so.

Regarding other items in our product range we have a good stock and supply stream, with no known manufacturing delays due to the lockdown.  Other retailers may be facing different supply issues than we are depending on the country of manufacture.

Sorry never until loaded pictures before. Have put in rectus 21 fitting on end of black hose and the other end of black hose it’s screwed into the backpack. Backpack turns on but no water is coming out. Am I missing something? Thanks

The last picture has another smaller compartment on top of the backpack with another thing you can fit something on. Surely it’s just the black hose one end (from second to last picture) and then other end with rectus 21 fitting with pole plugged into it?

Also (sorry to go on) when you have the black end screwed in at the front and even if I have the other end just loose and not attached surely the water should still come out? It’s all turning on ok and you can hear it running but just no water coming out
