I think you could always get more! £££££
« on: May 21, 2020, 11:06:18 pm »
Quoted a new one today. £45 first clean, £25 regular.

The geezer didn't even think about it. I'm sure I could have got more even tho the pricing is ok for the job.

I rarely face price complaints.

Makes me think money is being left on the table.

Thinking of adding something nominal to my quote, so if I think £25 make it £28.

Any thoughts chaps?

I was just thinking this last week.

After my recent advertising campaign I quoted my usual £10 to £12 a house and got probably 70% of the quotes which is pretty good, I normally get about 50%.

Next time I run some ads I'm going to go in much higher in the £15 to £20 range. Which makes me a bit nervous thinking about it lol because that's really high for my area, but I'm interested to see if I get any takers. Even if I only got 10 or 20% of quotes, I don't need the work so nothing lost.

I'm at capacity now and running out of bad customers to dump so quoting much higher for new work is probably my next step anyway.

I always wonder if I'm leaving money on the table when I get a quote accepted, like how high could I have pushed it.

You've got a slap a first clean charge on so I'm sure you could get £20.Still though if you're going at £12 initially and look at the bigger picture it will work but they'll have no incentive to stay on if one day they change thier mind they need to remember the first price!

How much do you spend on the campaign I guess that's why you need to get your money back
So you can do it again.

It's a fine line......I've lost the odd job in the past for charging too much(in the customers eyes).....others dont even bat an eyelid.......you can never tell.....

I try and price fair for both me and the customer......
price higher/work harder!

These days I don't spend anything, last week over 20 customers added and not a penny spent.

I dont charge first clean price, that's my investment clean.

I initially spent years obsessing about regular
Selling the idea how cheap it is and I used to look at the bigger picture.
If There's just one thing I would have done different was too to make sure I charged everyone a first clean price from the get go its alot more profitable and less stressful if all of a sudden the husbands going to take care of it.

I'm certain you can get more out of em gomo at least a first clean you'll make more money
Give it a go especially if doesn't hurt you losing a couple of jobs.

One house I do is £22.00. Detached old cottage with a tiny rather tired lean-to potting shed-cum-conservatory which is not included. It has four strips of old glass and is about 8ft wide and 6ft deep.

I'm just finishing when the old couple come in from their "exercise walk" and the husband says he's changed the potting shed into a place he and his wife can sit and ask me to add the roof in every time and she pipes up obviously we'll pay you extra for that.

Hubby says tell you what, how about you up the price to £25?

This is not a "conservatory roof" it's and if being done every time adds little to the job and I almost said "nah don't worry I'll include it" but actually said "I know it might not look too big but it's surprising how much glass there is, Mr. M____ so I would actually want to round the job up to £30 today and add a fiver on a regular basis."

He said "fine, no problem".

As I am dropping down from a pair of rooflights to get to it it literally takes three minutes extra. So yes not being afraid to up the price (reasonably) can work wonders for your round.

I am conscientiously looking to sell off bits of work and to ensure new enquiries are priced a bit higher.

It's a game of three halves!

Its sounds like your getting to where I've been for a few years now adam.....no advertising needed apart from my sign written van.....your round just becomes self sustaining ....

The only requirement is that you stick to your work ethic......regular,reliable and do a good job every time......
price higher/work harder!

I’ve never thought like that. When I quote for a house it’s generally based on similar properties rather than how much I think I can get away with. A fair price for a fair job. When I’m cleaning windows (I’m not for a few months) I get embarrassed if a job is overpriced. The other thing is, when you’re on your own and you’ve overpriced, you’ll take your time. Staff won’t. They’ll just work at the same pace whether it’s a £15 flat or an overpriced £400  mansion. Nothing worse than finishing one in three hours. Better pricing it at the pace staff will work.

My minimum price is £25
My best priced house is £110
That’s why I only need 150 customers.

I used to live in  Raleigh Essex before I moved to Cornwall. Really expensive place to live.

Cornwall 2 bed semi £13
We look at them, they look through them.
