Already spent some of it, got my email today to tell me my claim is being processed and to expect payment in the next three days. 🤣

Those that have it. When did you apply?

Applied for the BBL last Wednesday pm. In the bank Friday morning.

20K of premium bonds for a year  ;D
It’s maybe just as well there will be little or no checks on how this money is being spent as it’s meant to be used for your business or for your living costs😜

Very true. I was of course joking  ;)

Applied Friday evening (15th) - money in yesterday early morning (20th) - email from HMRC telling me it's being processed and that I should be paid within 3 working days today (21st).  ;D ;D ;D
It's a game of three halves!

We'll have to see if this socialism ultimately fails though.
It always does, I've been told.

This is a crisis driven payout situation, it can’t last.

If it goes on for over a year or so, the bottom will fall out, and when it falls out, it’ll be absolutely disastrous.

The money has to come from somewhere. We’re already badly in debt as a nation. Dread to even think after a couple of years of these payouts where we’d be!

You cannot have something for nothing.

No, it won't go on indefinitely.
But will it work? It's a show of socialism and we'll have to see if it works. Enough people have been willing to try out this socialism even though some people think it always fails.

Socialism is crap and proven to not work. Thankfully that’s not what we’re doing. Loans will have to be paid back, but before then the UK economy will go in to overdrive after restrictions are lifted. This isn’t a soviet collective where we live in dismal squalor. Unless you live oop north of course  ;D

It’s going to be a great time to be alive very soon.  8)

These grants and loans are socialist ideals though. Same as the NHS. You can't get away from that.
They are paid for by the state from the taxes of the people.
I don't what the Soviets have to got to do with this but I admire your optimism.

What utter nonsense. You couldn’t get more capitalist than loans and grants.  ;D

You’re just letting your hatred of the government cloud your thinking.

There’s not a single country in the world helping out its citizens like the UK government is.

You're wrong on all counts.
A truly capitalist economy would let the forces of supply and demand determine whether businesses went under or stayed afloat even during lockdown. If the market didn't allow you to survive, you'd sink.
The government stepped in, partly because they were responsible, and helped preserve jobs and businesses and they deserve some credit for that.
But it's not just this country doing it. These grants and loans were granted under the European Commission's Temporary Framework. So the European Commission also deserve some credit and some other member nations are also benefitting.

I’m afraid you lost the argument at that point Griff.
Your meaningless waffle didn’t help either.

Try again and stay alert  ;)
