Window cleaning has always seemed to attract more than its fair share of insecure, short arsed, inadequately endowed, gob sites who feel they have to "prove" themselves constantly. Not being held in high esteem by some of the general public doesn't help. People who shout the odds about money in my experience are either exaggerating their wealth or doing the exact opposite and deliberately understating what they've got. It's the quiet ones you want to keep an eye on. 😊

Well said.

lol funny thing is that was dry humour which clearly went straight over your head.  ;D ;D

Which is ironic.

I can’t hear your miserable, pessimistic tone through here I’m afraid Mr happy.

Given you usually spend so much time following my threads and writing annoying reply’s, i tended to assume you were doing the same with that one.

Now wipe that constant smile of your face, you’re too happy, too often.

😊

My replies aren't annoying to you are they? Serious question.

I love hearing from you, you’re like a bundle of joy following me about.

Perhaps we should meet up one day and have a chat about all the love we’ve shared on CIU?

Yea, we could.

I'm glad we cleared that up.

It's just you keep saying I annoy you, so seems odd...

We all know that prices flutuate on here from region to region and so one mans earnings per dsy may greatly differ from the next.
However, after speaking to a chap who has bought the vast majority of mine, I was amazed.  We were talking prices and obviously he has my prices and so he knows im not talking poop.  Work he has bought in the same areas where he has no expanded due to my work vary greatly.  In the same village and the same style of house, their old prices (i say old as im sure it wont be long b4 he adjusts them) were between £4 & £8.  Mine are £15 upwards.
So its not always about being lazy but hitting the sweet spot as far as pricing and quality of service is concerned.

For me, the work I have left for myself consists of 14 houses and a nice steady drive between the two sections.  Easily done within a day and thats going steady and trad.   This will fetch just over 200 and this is Doncaster.  (Adwick and stainforth, x mining communities as well).  This is just a small section that I saved.   So obviously if working full days and as i was without a change of circumstances then it isnt hard to push well over 200 a day for one person.
However, its not a simple case of saying it can easily be done is it.   Individual house prices, how saturated the area is can also inpact upon said price and the work ethic of the individual and their purpose for working.  Additional aspects will also impact their net profits as well

Why would anybody get annoyed at this sort of  harmless wibble, we can all remember Nathans gaff when he posted his invoice for five unpaid cleans at a fiver a pop, sooner or later most braggers get caught out and it tends to be funny when they do.

In my experience the quiet ones are the sneaky sly self loathing woman beating insecure people on this planet,I’ve never seen a serial killers profile that doesn’t include the above I steer clear of the quiet ones you never know where you are with them.

What the hell are you on about?

Lol dear me people quoting 200 a day I don’t know a window cleaner that Max’s out on that a day,if they do it’s because it either a lifestyle choice or they are running it till the kids get kicked out of school.
I know there’s a limit to what you can earn within reason but come on set your horizons a little bit higher than the above, maybe depression is rife in window cleaning maybe that’s the reason.
That wasn’t good money window cleaning 25 years ago.

What’s your yearly profit?

This is the funny thing, everyone bangs on about £200-250 a day. If that was the case, almost no one would be claiming the grant, as it’s only allegeable for those earning under £50,000 a year.

The reality is most window cleaners are far under that.

Even after expenses, at £250 a day, you’d be still be pushing just over £50,000 a year profit. (Assuming expenses are £5-10,000 for a one man band.

I turn over £43,000 odd a year. With only around £4000 in expenses as an average.

I do about 4-5 hours a day, and admit I could work harder, but have a very good round with well paying work. (Thanks to some very good commercial work)

Id be very suprised if there are many sole traders on here pushing out £60,000 a year.

I bet it’s more like £25-30,000 average. The funny thing to me, is, you’d never know that by all the willy waving 😁

It would be so interesting to see the amount of sole trader window cleaners pushing over £50k. I’d love to see that pie chart. I think we’d see a minute slither of £50k earners, the rest under.

i turn over around £45-£48k a year and work similar hours to you(my expenses are higher though due to van and hot water system)......i could earn more if i worked harder but TBH  i can live like a king up here on that.......

ive found my sweet spot....now im comfortable with my income and hours theres no desire/incentive to work longer and harder....

time is more precious than working more....

i dont know any window cleaners earning £300-£400 per day on a regular basis up here........im quite sure there are guys doing that fairly easily esp if they live down south as the pricing is off the scale!...but so are their living expenses!

NWH you are not doing anything special, ive no doubt you can earn £400 a day you just happen to be in a very good area.

But I said £200 a day average across the country as a whole, everyone knows you can earn silly money down south. But up in the North East you can buy a house for 50k. Cleaners up there probably struggle to get a tenner a house, I know cleaners that do about £150 a day and they are not lazy.

But on the point of the thread, 50k could probably be done anywhere, just some could do it in 3 days a week other 6 days.. I do £250 a day average but I only work 4 days a week and probably only 45 weeks of the year.

That’s why us southerners sound like we are talking crap, you can’t compare the prices what you’ll get £15-20 for a house we may get 35-40.
Everyone should keep in mind that when someone quotes prices they should stop and think what area are they in,prices vary massively throughout the country.

By the same token then you should stop saying those cleaning £12-£20 houses are scraping the barrel. The bulk of my domestic work is houses around the £15 - £40 mark which is mostly stand alone stuff.

Up here if you’re averaging around the £200 a day mark on domestics you can and will live very comfortably. Add to that some very well priced commercial and you are flying.

What kind of personal overheads are people paying down there these days? House prices, rents etc?

back when i joined this forum in 2009....i was trad back then and my earnings were a lot lower at around the £18k a year......i was getting tired of climbing ladders,id also sold some work a few years previous too due to ill health but had started to build back up again...i was working longer hours and still collecting 3 hours a week! ::)roll ;D

i think the first year WFP my earnings went up 5k as i was charging more because i could reach all the awkward windows on my round and picking up new work.....my expenses went up too though as ive experimented (more than most!) with various poles,equipment,vans,etc... a £3k a year rise in earnings year on year went on for years and has not plateaued until recently....
