Pure Freedom Electric reel
« on: May 10, 2020, 09:46:32 am »
Had this reel just over 2 years , recently I have noticed that the snag protection is kicking in a lot more that it used to but I have changed nothing ,I wonder if anyone one else has had this experience .

Had mine nearly 2 years now.....snag protection only kicks in if the hose catches on something...not under normal reeling in conditions...what speed do you have it set on?mines on 99 all the time.....
price higher/work harder!

I might just get another HD I don’t like the look of the new 1 tbh, apart from the hose not going over the side the HD build quality looks better new 1 looks plastic.

I will be ordering a new motor and a couple of chains for my HD,savage the way it reels in brings huge terracotta pots back to you from 300 feet away if you ask it 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

The pure freedom reelmaster is a bit more expensive than the older HD reels but much more robust and is a better reel IMO.....not used or seen the newer belt driven plastic HD reels so i cant comment.....time will tell....

The chain problem is lubrication if you spray the chain with a long lasting lubricant it won’t keep jumping off,I had this trouble and felt the same.
Once you’ve done this on the chain and both cogs it doesn’t happen.

I was contemplating getting the 3D hose reel but had a change of heart and decided to go for pure freedom reel as need a swivel base and the extension roller arm is a practical bonus.  Pure Freedoms hose reel looks more robust and like the idea of slow start reel in and snag stop safety facility. Any problems to watch out for on pure freedom hose reel.

when i got mine delivered the chain kept coming off...no amount of adjusting would keep it on...so annoying....in the end i drove to pure freedom and they replaced the whole centre cog unit and its not missed a beat in nearly 2 years now....i just put it down to teething issues..........the slow start is great as it also slows down when you take you finger off the button when your reeling in fast so you dont catch your fingers!....i like the fact you can see your battery voltage too.....

After two years use the chain may have less tension after time.  Also suggest giving PF a call

One that swivels I would say is the best option if I didn’t get another HD I’d get one that swivelled.

Waterworks reels  have snag protection and soft start the pure freedom reels are nicely designed but I had two both faulty from the factory , stainless steel orderd  powder coated sent.  One wired  up wrong drum turned the wrong way , the other one the anti snag was set to soft and would not wind in hose , so needless  to say they were sent back and I had a refund , the water works reels arnt the quality of pure freedoms but they  work well I have 6 of them both the old metal had and the new 3D ones the 3 d ones are slower reeling in than the older model but I find them fine we use hot water on all our vans and they are very good with that as well .

I don’t want one that’s slower than the old one.
