I had a text from a customer's neighbour asking if I could "fit her in" next time I was there.

Without going into every word I told her I was only taking on regular customers and not "one-offs" and she told me she has a regular cleaner but that he is not working during the CV crisis and that she didn't want to drop him but she would switch to me if I had to have her as a regular customer..

I said due to the CV situation I didn't feel happy taking another window cleaner's regular work but that if she accepted a one off price I would do it due to the exceptional circumstances and she could go back to her old windy when it is over.

She texted me last night to say she'd spoken to her previous cleaner and he was okay with it.

I've scheduled it in for next week when I do my others in the road.

If your still choosing not to work then your going to lose customers. It’s Inevitable.

People know that businesses like window cleaners and gardeners are allowed to continue. Some people genuinely think your just being lazy for not working and will jump ship. That’s the harsh reality and I’ve had a few say that to me.

I’ve been doing the same as Granville and trying to Work out if someone is ditching there window cleaner because of covid, and if that’s the case I politely decline.

I must say though, the amount of enquiries I’m getting is crazy, even for this time of year.

I just picked up a FSG,conservatory roof and window clean,  the customer said her current window cleaner "cant make it" due to the situation.

I haven't seen hardly any shiners about since lockdown, usually see loads about.

I think its wise to think about why a wc isn't working ? is he shielding an elderly relative or wife?
has he got an underlying problem that puts him at risk ?

For some cleaners it might not be through choice that they’re not working at the moment.

I’d say they were the in the  minority though.

So far I've had about a dozen that have gone on hold till this is over, citing loss of work or vulnerable people in the home as the reason, but I've picked up about half dozen new ones. However, these have so far been people looking for a window cleaner who have been at home more due to the situation and seen me working.

I bet they were interested in a forum that you frequent  ::)roll.
C'mon, get cracking and no slacking just because you're getting a grant. Though you did say that you would have to be desperate to work at a time like this.
