Til September'll do.

Trouble with Socialism is you run out of other people’s money to spend.
An old cliche from Margaret  ::)roll.
You don't run out if you get it all in. If you'd prefer the wealthy to keep theirs listen to Margaret  ;).

Their taxes are not; or they shouldn't be.

It's the main way that governments get their money.
That's what Margaret was talking about.

Which is why taxes in Socialist societies are always a lot higher. An unworkable system if you believe people should be able to spend their money on the services they choose. Instead of the Govt spending it for you.

Simples.

That's what you're led to believe. But you are not wealthy.  It's about the wealthy paying what they should and not the likes of us paying more.
You're happy for the government spending on the NHS and the SEISS though?

No I think the NHS is underfunded, Id willingly pay more tax to ensure it was fit for purpose. That doesnt mean I subscribe to socialist Govt. or excessive taxation. Ive lived and worked in a European country where I  paid 48%; the unemployed could be given ridiculous benefits such as TVs by the state. No thanks. Where’s the incentive to work.

‘The wealthy paying what they should’. We probably all agree on that statement, but disagree on the meaning of the word ‘should’. Where’s the incentive to be an entrepreneur, an innovator, to push forward in a  business sense, supplying work and labour, if you’re going to end up paying 70% of your profits back in tax? The benefit to the economy with regards entrepenurs and investors is they supply a work force with work who themselves then pay tax.

And avoid and evade tax.
Why should they pay less than you?

If they earn more than me they’ll pay more than me.

There is a happy place between 20% tax and 70% tax, Griff.

Everything is so black and white to you.

Who mentioned 70%?  Some of them don't pay 20%! Some pay none!!

Socialism never works, has never worked and will never work.

The idea we’re all entitled to money is obscene.

You either earn it, or you don’t. Of course a welfare state for those that cannot work is fair and necessary.

I don’t give two hoots what other people earn, I don’t deserve their money. They earned it, not me.

It’s my attitude of acceptance that some people are rich that enables me to pursue a better income myself. Rather than the victim mentality, which just breeds idleness and lack of self worth.

Socialism is a very dangerous policy. Always fails. Every single time. Always brings more poverty in the end.

Capitalism is the best of the bunch, albeit flawed in many ways itself.

I did.

Some who should only pay 20% pay nothing too. Thats nothing to do with socialism, communism or capitalism. Thats just human nature. You cant politicise that. Its always happened always will.

I never mentioned socialism though.
Slacky has, a few times, and so has Zesty. They're both willing to accept a socialist handout and then tell us that socialism doesn't work.
Strange.

You can't back pedal now Griff.

Thats because I've paid my taxes, every penny, and am entitled to it. I believe in having what you're entitled too.  I'll be paying it back in increased taxes. Only a mug wouldn't take it.

It's a Tory handout btw, you just don't recognise it as one as you're still sore over the 'B' word thingy from the last few years; Labour are off field, off the radar, out for the count; we won't be getting any handouts from them any time soon.

I can be a capitalist too.
Is that like a Champagne Socialist?

How am I back-pedaling?
I don't care if you take the grant; the grant that you are now politicising. I didn't bring socialism into the debate or start quoting Margaret. Now you're bringing up Brexit and the Labour party!
All I said is, tongue in cheek, that I want the grant 'til September. You then implied that we can't afford it. You're probably right but I'll follow the government lead.

Socialists are allowed champagne. It's a common misconception that they aren't.
