« on: April 30, 2020, 12:32:22 pm »
Has anyone been canvassing during lockdown?
Any advice on how to approach this during lockdown ?
Started my window cleaning just before Covid-19 happened so stopped canvassing but need work bad now!

I think the best you’ll get as far as canvassing goes is picking up jobs while you are working.

I don’t think it’s a good idea during the lockdown. Better of getting a job in Tesco’s temporarily

A big no no.  You will be ripped apart by some arriving uninvited to their door steps.

I also need to canvass but it’s certainly not a good idea to do it now. I’ll prob look at it in June/July.

Don’t be silly, terrible idea. I wouldn’t even want to deliver leaflets at the moment.

I think it would be okay but only if it's just leaflets or business cards that you're putting through peoples letter boxes.  As others have said though I certainly don't think it would be a good idea to actually go knocking on doors if that's what you had in mind.

I disagree. I’d even consider delivering leaflets more irresponsible than door knocking at the moment, but both are out of bounds imo.

I suppose it’s how you approach it.
Nothing wrong with delivering leaflets or door knocking as long as you keep a safe distance from the door.
But to be honest I don’t expect you would pick up much work .

I certainly wouldn't canvass or leaflet at this present time. I don't think you'll get any work but you could easily end up with a bad reputation. Common sense dictates!

I would get a part time job delivering food (get some money in) then I would hit facebook, local community groups, whatsapp groups and any other social media you can think of. Let them know you are still working (and safely!). Also offer to clean fascias, soffits and gutters, conservatory roofs etc. (no inside work at all).

Luckily, i've not lost a lot of window cleaning work due to the virus but my add on's have really taken off at the moment.
FSG cleaning, connie roofs, pressure washing, soft washing.

It might be worth targeting the add on work as well, to get some money in.

For all other enquiries, please press1"

Had a chat with as a copper about this today and this was his take on it (He's a customer btw)

You're trying to get work and actually don't have the work in place. He said that leaving the house to try and get work is not one of the reasons you're allowed to leave the house.

A leaflet company delivering leaflets has been paid by someone to deliver leaflets and that's their business, so they can carry on as normal.

I kinda agree.

Canvassing is working.

Every business has work related tasks that dont actually bring in the money but its still work.

You'll need balls of steel and skin thicker than Daz to go canvassing during a pandemic.

Brave man if you do it!

If you need work get on Facebook and hammer the local groups. Every time I do this I usually get at least a handful of new customers.

It's no different than getting mail through the door from the postman is it?  Granted there may be those that frown on it at this time so maybe this method of canvassing would be less effective than normal.  I think most would prefer something through the door though as opposed to actually having to get up and answer the door and speak to a stranger.

This is actually the best time to knock as almost everyone is home, but the wrong time to.
I'd knock only around my existing customers as I was on the road.

if i needed the work badly id be canvassing and leafleting.......when i was younger nothing would stop me knocking on a door....

the first time i went canvassing was on a sunday just after xmas in 1993.....it was 11am and snowing!i picked up 3 jobs on a large housing estate.....27 years later i clean 90+ on this estate....ironically enough i still clean the very first house i picked up on there....same customers too....... :)

most people are at home so its the perfect time to go door knocking IMO......just stand well back when they answer.........they can either say yes/no or F*** off........
price higher/work harder!

Its not exactly in the spirit of the lockdown guidelines though is it.

I suspect that’ll be realised after the first 6 or so people answer.

Get knocking on doors you big fanny!
Make sure you lick the leaflet as well before you hand it over!
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?
