Nope, universal credit is means tested, penalised for doing the right thing and saving money over the years.

I’m fine though, have enough work to keep me ticking over and most of my work will (hopefully) be started within the next 2-8 weeks. I just wanted to point out that there’s quite a few like me that will fall through the gaps.

 Thats the difference you said  not entitled to it, as yet we don't know the long term effects - how many more companies like BA Make1,000's redundant which then has a knock on effect to your customer base... and therefore your income, always best to be prepared

Is what it is. There’s plenty that have got it worse than me. If I’ve got mine and my families health and most of my work when it’s all back to ‘normal’, I’ll be happy with that.

That's a good post.
I'm surprised that many think we're over this because they can go back to work and are entitled to the grant.
The economy affects window cleaning more than window cleaning affects the economy.
And that's without looking at the health side of it.

Some of the guys on hear boast of £3-400 a day.

The reality: almost everyone on here will get the payout.

Really feel for deegee and likes. I’ve lost a fair chunk of regular commercial work (temporarily) and the bank account is starting to show that.

We bought a nice BMW M140i in October last year. Then boom! This happens. It still needs the monthly payments paying. Things looked really positive this year, then out of no where things change.

I’m glad my van was paid for, because having the BMW payment and a van payment each month wouldn’t have been fun.

You can’t live like that though. I suppose ‘these things happen’.

Feel for friends if mine who are personal trainers, smashing out £40-50k a year. Then smack. No gym to train clients and no money coming in. One of them has a big mortgage and his wife is also a PT. they have a little boy of three and another on the way. He’s in a real pickle financially.

I’ve always said I bet there’s a clause that says we won’t get a payout.

Thankfully I don’t need anything from the government as I’ve kept working and paying my bills without using any savings.

If it’s offered though I’ll definitely be taking it. You can guarantee all of us will be paying this back with higher tax rates for years to come, so not taking it is madness.

My feeling is that their might be a tick box on the application form........ has your business been able to continue trading?.......... that could be the kicker for everyone, wether you’ve decided to stop work or not, we all know the government guidelines have said we have been allowed to work.

My business has been effected, I’ve lost a few residential jobs and nearly all my commercial jobs are on hold. Thankfully I’m 80% residential though so I’m not worried about what’s going to happen, will just keep doing what I’m doing and wait and see.

I thought I couldn't get it being a ltd Co director but I can.

But there's no point me claiming it at 80 % of PAYE salary. Most of my income is dividends which means I would only get £800 a month.

So I have chosen to work instead and unlike the self employed I can't work and claim so it's one or the other.

Yep there’s plenty out there who will be effected by this way more than us.

Was speaking to an aircraft engineers yesterday, young lad with 3 kids and a big mortgage. Was made redundant by the collapse of Flybe in Early March. No furlough, no work from home, no income and the prospect of searching for work in an industry that’s likely to be on its knees for years to come.

There’s thousands and thousands of stories like this out there. I’m just glad I’ll be able to keep working and keep earning at least enough to pay the bills and live a reasonably simple life.

There's just a virus without a vaccine, lockdowns and a possible recession to worry about. Remember this grant is only for three months and this could all go on a lot longer.
I've been sat at home and I'm not anxious about the grant. I'm very confident we'll get something and I'm fortunate that most of our bills are covered.

Yes, that's the government grant. Goes to all rate paying companies.

True for some Adam, but I’m one of the guys that’s got a very large commercial ‘round’ so it has effected me quite a bit.

I only have about 16 days a month of domestic. The rest is commercial.

I don’t regret having a large commercial side to the business though, because when things are going well (I.e any time we’re not in lockdown, cos even recessions have never effected my commercial) it pays so so well; and is done in half the time my domestic rounds are done.

So for me, the £7500 will be welcome.
