To those who are working...
« on: April 21, 2020, 08:06:45 am »
Are you getting fed up with working whilst most people are at home?

It feels like a national holiday, especially driving around seeing people riding bikes, walking, jogging in the sunshine etc. Keep seeing all the pic on fb of people having barbecues, paddling pools out etc.

I know there's a pandemic and it's hard for a lot but some are lapping up the gov handouts and revelling in it whether on furlough or working from home.

I can't believe how many people I'm seeing out and about during the day in the local parks and beauty spots.

I really cba at the moment, fancy a week off.

If i could get the 80% I certainly wouldn't be working everyday.

You can if you're self employed, you just have to wait until June  ;)
Actually I have never enjoyed going to work as much as I am now.
We are in a very fortunate occupation we can actually go out to work, the alternative is much worse.
Bank balance still looking healthy what's not to like?

I'm not self employed otherwise I wouldn't have made that statement  ;)

Oh yeh don't get me wrong, we still have jobs it could be worse.

Just it's not exactly enjoyable atm with everyone being in and in the way, it's a nightmare.

Oh well, just moaning.

Until now I have been enjoying going out to work , but I’m now only left with the parts of the round where access is a bit tricky , even more so now with everyone home
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

The issues for me are everyones at home and wants to talk plus I won’t go through houses  to clean back windows.

So at the moment I’m probably losing £250 a week but I’m still alive and have a job some people are not as fortunate as me

Take a week off then mate....you can do what you want as it's your business....

I'm finding the roads super quiet but maybe the odd extra hassle of more cars parked up than usual but it doesn't bother me.....

Since the lockdown the weather has been great so no complaints from me....

I’m still finding it very strange but it’s getting slightly better as time goes on imo.

I’m just generally doing domestics 9am- 1pm as I find the afternoons a nightmare, kids in gardens etc, not to mention I don’t have enough work to work full time at the moment.

The thing is for most people, especially those with young kids, it’s really important to get them out in the fresh air and keep them exercising. This is something we’ve always done but it seems most other families seemed to need the government to tell them this before they have started to do it.

I live on a street with no through traffic and the amount of people I see passing that I’ve never seen before in 5 years of living here is unbelievable. What did all these people do for leisure before the pandemic?

This is an example of what I'm on about.

Turns up at a customers house just now, all curtains shut. Probably in bed.

Massive, and I mean full size painting in the front window about 6ft wide.. one of them rainbows and stay at home signs.

I thought it was inside  :-X just went to clean it and washed half of it off. It's run all down the windows.

So then went to open gate and it's padlocked. Knocked the door to explain about the painting... No answer

OK I'll jump gate, 4ft high metal gate. Ripped the lot off its hinges   :(

Then when I did get over I had to get back over again to pull the hose free from a car on the drive.

Mangaged to fix the gate with tools from the van but feck me what a performance.

I’m loving the quiet roads, but I’m not a fan of all the cars on the drive and people in gardens.

Also, as much as I enjoy a quick chit chat with customers, it’s not much fun with literally everyone in, all talking for ages and slowing me up!

I’m glad I’ve got some work to keep me going, but I am massively missing my regular commercial work.

I think of the chats as an important part of the day. You might be the only person they see all week. Like someone else said earlier, your still alive, you can still work, the sun is shining etc etc. Life, and we are all luck to have it, is gooood.

Same here. Would far rather be on a big office, early morning, earphones in listening to an audio book and not a soul in sight to get in my way.

I for one am unqualified to deal with such a blatant breach of not just the forum rules, but all rules of human dignity. I have sent it up the line for Forum Admin to deal with.

The most shameful thing I have ever seen on CIU.

It's a game of three halves!
