im surprised that some of the council gardeners are still off work....the grass is literally growing under their feet.....its getting out of control around here and its gonna take an awful lot of work to get them tidy again if it goes on until june.... ::)roll..

also fly tipping is rife........the councils should open the recycling centres again!

I cut some of the council owned grass around our house myself.
Bank holiday weekend, not much else to do and council have probably a bit on their plate.

They’ve given you a cheap house for a fair while now Daz, maybe return the favour and help them out a bit?
Sure your neighbours would appreciate the gesture as well.

i would do but i dont own a lawnmower mate........my missus has  artificial grass!

That's the spirit, Don!
I've a mate who works for the council and he's been volunteering packing food parcels for the vulnerable.
He's still getting paid and they've told him that he doesn't need to go into work but he wants to.

We did a Hannover Court property today; about 40 flats; all full of elderly types.

Some of the ground floor windows were annoying; families had been up to visit - like waving at their elderly relatives through the glass - and quite a few had stuck drawings their kids had done to the windows with sticky tape.

So I had to carefully remove them, clean all the glass, and then re-stick them (I used electrician;s tape from the van) back on the glass.

I'm not even sure if I got the right drawings on the right flats.  ;D

i cleaned a block of granny flats too today....i had to move away from quite a few of them when they came out chatting......some of them  still seem oblivious to the 2m distance rule! ::)roll.....

then this afternoon i had 2 large stand alone houses to clean...one was a nurses house(shes not working this week)and she offered me a brew...i refused obviously but it beggars belief that people in the medical profession would be doing this.....2 weeks ago it was a retired doctors house who offered me a coffee! ::)roll

You can accept a brew, can't you? Get them to leave it on the step and I'm sure they'd wash the cup after.

One of.my customers has just finished chemo a week before I was at theres.  The hubby made me a coffee as usual as I knew they would have to be well (non CV) and afterwards, i washed the cup n disinfected it for them to take back in after I left.  All is good,

What for? The risk is very low you know and even if you caught it there’s only a one percent chance you’d die.

First post all ,so be gentle.

Decided to go back to work yesterday with my son as only been going for 12 months and Govt support not enough. We have always text the day before and the response was 75% of customers asked us to clean. reasons for declining were financial but mainly health and safety reasons.

We turned up for our first job and got 3 new regular customers (only small jobs though on a new housing estate) but nothing new for the rest of the day. Customers we visited were supportive. I probably over analysed the situation and probably in hindsight should have continued to work given the lack of financial support in our particular situation..Felt reasonably good about the day driving home but van started to make strange noises on the way and eventually broke down . Now faced with £1050 bill to get new turbo . Will be fitted this week and out again next week. Hope it wasn't Karma.

Thats not Karma mate, you did nothing wrong. When you gotta go you gotta go. Hope you van gets sorted for you. If the turbo was gonna go it was gonna go, and better now than any other time.

That’s a bad break with regards to the van- been there done that - there is never a good time for it

I don’t doubt many customers are “happy” to see their window cleaner - after all the risk is all yours - if your out working that’s really down to you as an individual and how you want to ok at the gov’ guidelines - that is after all what they are a guide

If the government thought you were a threat to yourself or others you wouldn't be allowed to work, full stop, so you have nothing to feel guilty about,  as for your van are sure its the turbo that's the problem ? when causing problems they tend to run sluggish/ cause power loss rather than stop you in your tracks, get a second opinion.

Thanks gents,  Renault specialist took a look at it as a favour (it is a traffic) but he didn't want to do the job as he is claiming business grant because of lockdown and didn't want to take the risk  and then a mobile mechanic friend and both said turbo. Van is being recovered  today and will get it back tomorrow so all being well back out next week.
