Shopping, reasonably, is regarded as an essential journey.

Maybe, maybe not.  A top copper has threatened to start checking supermarket baskets.

Is that beer really necessary?  And that chocolate?  Do you really need flavoured water?  There's water in the tap.

Hopefully they'll produce a list of approved items that constitute 'essential shopping items'.
That was said, you're correct. It was however quickly debunked by the force. Obviously you couldn't find that quick enough.

Of course it was debunked; like the police saying window cleaners can't work has been debunked.

Addressing Clean Clear and this request of me.

"You fancy putting your money where your mouth is (so to speak) and produce a RAMS for working amongst the public in a pandemic ?"

Why would I do that? I refer you to the government guidelines which suffice.

You took it upon yourself to add this : The government is not saying only people doing “essential” work can go to work. Anyone who cannot work from home can still go to work.
.
So explain more................ Or do you think you should NOT have added that ?

What are you wibbling on about? That is in the original guidelines.
It's a game of three halves!

The police that makes me laugh as well, have you seen a police officer these days all the sensible ones are long retired.
The average age of a police officer-social worker lol must be about 25,haven’t got a clue you’ve got to laugh when you hear them talk they’ve all got the same tone and drone of a voice from training.

It's safer to be anywhere than a supermarket right now. You may have to queue keeping a 2m distance outside but inside the plan goes to pot, especially queueing to pay as people forget and naturally bunch up. I have stopped using supermarkets and use the local shops to me as everyone knows each other in our village and everyone has a greater respect for the 2m rule at all times thus making it a safer environment then a supermarket.

I think that is a good point. After all you can get all you need to have a balanced diet at most corner shops. So anyone going to a large supermarket is obviously not following the spirit of government guidelines.
Are you firing on all fours ? "Corner shops" here all mostly "Asian" owned/run............ no ham/bacon/beef. They mostly all collectivley  run from the likes of Bestway (cash and carries, etc. ) they do not have capacity to take up the surge from Tesco/Sainsbury/Asda/Lidl/Aldi/Co Op/ SPar etc......

I didn't say essential items, did I?
But if you want to go Tesco everyday you might not get nicked but you might get something else.
Stay safe.

Can't believe how everyone is having a go at each other twisting words, definitely some frustrated window cleaners about. I just say everyone keep safe regardless of what you do and respect other peoples choices.

What are you wibbling on about? That is in the original guidelines.

Your guideline is to stay at home. Thats what i'm wibbling about. If you personally (and you did) wanna make a claim for how you can go out, you explain how it can be done within the confines of this Pandemic we're in.................

I did suspect as much and now I think you are correct; after all he has taken my baited hook about corner shops being sufficient to provide a good wholesome diet and therefore obviating (my word, don't pinch it) the need to go to a bigger supermarket.

Is alcohol an "essential" during this pandemic of epic proportions?

Firing on all fours? I'm sure you mean "firing on all four".

Why do you need ham, bacon, or beef? Not essential surely? Eating ham, bacon and beef is known to contribute towards blocked arteries and thus putting more strain on hospital resources. This increases your chances of a heart attack or stroke and the need for an ambulance.
