He's an MP. There'll be NHS staff over 70, too.
Anyone would think I've never done the shopping before. The neighbours gave me a cracking round of applause when I unloaded it out of the boot.Cheeky barstewards.

Spoilt rotten: The Toxic Cult of Sentimentality by Theodore Dalrymple"The fine traditions of this country are being eroded by the sentimental cultural hegemony that insists any feeling is by definition both true and something to be nurtured. We now live in a world where the public demand vulgar displays of emotion and it is fair game to coerce anyone who fails to conform."People's Princess, Je suis Charlie, Don't look back in anger. et al. Far more useful to have everyone text a few pounds for the NHS.

If someone thinks they are "doing their bit" by standing on their doorstep clapping or rattling a saucepan, then so be it. I personally think it's all a bit silly, and when my Mrs was at home off shift last week she wouldn't even go outside at 8pm because she found it embarrassing. Perhaps it's because she is the type who doesn't seek to be revered or put on a pedestal, which is probably not a bad thing considering she's married to me.
