not 999      but police stations have local numbers also for the front desk for enquiries.

I’d say the mandate by the government is better than a local secretary on the phone.

We can work. We are being encouraged to do so and safely.

they do not have secretarys on a police station desk,      they are actually Real police officers at reception .    They will know who they will stop.     Be it right or not.    If they tell you to go home .     I think you may go home.      Not worth getting arrested    haha

You didn’t say a police station desk in your opening post tho did you?  You said phone your local police station, in which case you will be answered by a call handler, not a police officer.

I really dont understand why this is even being debated still.  Sure we are humble window cleaners but come on lads its more than clear.

All the news and everything from the government clearly says that if you can not work from home then go to work! Provided that you are safe in doing so!    The government also have said that working is good for the economy (and thats important) and for the community!    There is absolutely no question to whether we can work or not!   Yet outside of work, people should stay at home apart from the hr of exercise and dog walking!

If you feel you can not do that, then stay in and dont go out at all!  Not even to the shops which actually does give the greatest chance of touching the virus and/or passing it over!

Yes more people are at home and working (or for me) is a little slower as more cars are parked up as people stay in.   However, apart from speaking to people through closed windows, I have had no contact with anyone at work!  Nor contact with hard surfaces which I havent cleaned my hands afterwards.

I am not a Window Licker but it seems clear even to me that you are able to work as long as you follow the rules. I.e. 2 metre distance rule, avoid contact, go to work and come home and that should be relatively easy especially if you text the customer the night before.  The problems I see are if you have someone who gets it in your house or problems looking after children  etc.  Sadly looking further down the line the longer this goes on I see customers telling you they don’t need you as money gets tighter.
