You said this:
But I don't believe for a minute that whether I work, or not (or any other window cleaner) will make a blind bit of difference to the corona.
Your man, C Twitty, says different. I trust him more than you.

I'm happy to take the next couple of weeks off, but I'll see how it goes.

Good call. I take back everything I said about you.

Ish.
What?
He's only doing it for the money. He's been flapping and working all week even though I told him that the money was coming and when.
The tax paying key workers have bought his compliance. It's nothing to do with conscience.

Bit judgmental. Tosh sacked it off today before the Chancellor's announcement.

But after he got shamed by the Type 1 diabetic mother's day celebrant across the road from him?  ;)
It's a game of three halves!

Would you say the grant is there to encourage us not to work then?
Why wouldn’t they just say “don’t work” if that was the case?
(Genuinely asking, as it seems odd to me that you can technically earn whilst qualifying for this grant)

Ok, imagine you are an alarm installer. You no longer feel able to go into peoples houses to put in new systems, do annual checks and the like. But if the thing goes off or fails it's an emergency. Same with a gas fitter. So you do work a bit but not a lot.

I hear you Gold, understand the scenario.

But I would imagine that there will be a lot that just crack on, using the line “I can be social distant from customers” as the reason.

Only working in an emergency wasn’t given as a stipulation. In fact, to me, it seemed like the self employed were being actively encouraged to try and crack on as normal.

Just thinking out loud. Had a lot of time this week to spend time in my own head  ;D
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

But if I'd ignored him, he'd have worked yesterday and today. I couldn't give up on him and I finally got through that the money was coming and when.
My Missus even chucked in for him.

Given I'm not classed as self employed and have no promise of income like most of you I guess I'll have to work a bit next week even if its just the bare minimum to cover the bills.

So what's your working status?

Black economy?  You're obviously anonymous, and I don't know your situation, so no judgement here.

Just interested.

I'm Ltd, and so far nothing at all has been announced for directors.

Fecked is what I am lol

Until yesterdays announcement the whole thing seemed unclear. However that has changed.
I took it clearly from what the Chancellor said that we should stay at home.
No way given the situation affecting the country would I go out and clean windows.

I'd much rather go and work rather than stay off without pay until June,
I am not going to criticise anyone, for their interpretation ,
but for me it's clear what is required of us.

Are you going around the shops and seen what’s going on,seriously you’ve got more chance catching this virus just popping round Tesco’s etc than you have working.

Why do you want to increase your chances?
Don't do either.

I think you need to have a contract of employment in place?

Nope.

To qualify employees need to be "furloughed" which is basically a leave of absence where they cannot perform any work for the company.

A sole director doesn't qualify for the scheme as they cannot be furloughed as they have to perform administrative duties.
