I'm happy to take the next couple of weeks off, but I'll see how it goes.

Good call. I take back everything I said about you.

I'm naturally lazy, like a hassle free life and we've free money on it's way.  But I don't believe for a minute that whether I work, or not (or any other window cleaner) will make a blind bit of difference to the corona.

No I'm not going to work I'm ringing the accountants tomorrow so they can sort a few things out for my employee then see how it goes for the next few weeks.  Like many I've lost all commercial jobs and hopefully the majority of the domestic work will still be there when we get back.

The money has never been that important to me.

It probably wouldn't be to many here either, if they were the kind of bloke that could live off a woman's earnings.

But failing that some will have to go to work because keeping a roof over their family's heads and feeding them is important.
More important than what? Than me not going to work?
And do you and your Helen have separate money then? And and you know our financial situation then?
.

Keeping a roof over their families heads is more important than you virtue signalling that you don't care about money while your wife is a nurse (god bless her) and earning.

That's the thing about money, it's a bit like air.  You take it for granted until there's a shortage.
I never said I don't care about money. I said 'the money'. The money that the government are gifting us.
I was staying off work anyway and not because the 'gift' came through- as I predicted- like some.
I understand if the people that were getting evicted and starving- they weren't- had to go to work even in a lockdown.
I would have even encouraged it, all Sturgeon-like, had your man Boris locked them down and not gifted them a gift.

No difference to the big picture; you know how the modelling works.

Travelling to work has been accounted for.

Would you say the grant is there to encourage us not to work then?
Why wouldn’t they just say “don’t work” if that was the case?
(Genuinely asking, as it seems odd to me that you can technically earn whilst qualifying for this grant)
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Good.

Just accept that if people go to work following government guidelines, then that's good.  And if people choose not to work, that's good too.

Both are right answers.

You're not Chief Medical Officer though, are you? Or a sage from SAGE?
You're now a kept man, living off of my Missus' taxes.
She said it's ok because you helped her son with your poor spelling.

I've already explained to you that they took travel to work into consideration for their modelling.

See Soupy's link on how that works.

Given I'm not classed as self employed and have no promise of income like most of you I guess I'll have to work a bit next week even if its just the bare minimum to cover the bills.

I thought that they would, Don. But I don't trust the people .
I think that the grant now means that they can if they ever need to.

So what's your working status?

Black economy?  You're obviously anonymous, and I don't know your situation, so no judgement here.

Just interested.

I'll believe them but you said that you don't believe that you will affect co-vid by working.

He's only doing it for the money. He's been flapping and working all week even though I told him that the money was coming and when.
The tax paying key workers have bought his compliance. It's nothing to do with conscience.

Ok, imagine you are an alarm installer. You no longer feel able to go into peoples houses to put in new systems, do annual checks and the like. But if the thing goes off or fails it's an emergency. Same with a gas fitter. So you do work a bit but not a lot.
It's a game of three halves!

For the next three weeks, at least.
It helps with the homeschooling.
