Just spoke to Accountant
« on: March 26, 2020, 04:38:03 pm »
I just spoke to My ( Chartered) accountant regarding the self employed situation to be announced Today .
He said
1/ the 3 years Accounts include 2019 - 2020 so need to get Account in This week .
2/ Payments would start the end of April but be backdated
3/ Whatever They declare We will receive Today for example 80% of your average weekly income after tax , Worked out over the last 3 years . We Will Get !
4/ The Accountant will sort it all out for Me / Ask Yours if so ?
5/ Lastly I sent a group text to My customers last night saying I stopped working since Mondays Announcement to stay at home .
which I hope would help as  a Backup proof of When I stopped working . I also added in the text I'm happy to help any of My old or at risk Customers if They need shopping or Prescriptions etc. The response was amazing , Text after text saying They'll be waiting for Me when things calm down .

All the best.

Considering the 2019-20 Tax Year does not finish until 5th April im thinking they might not allow you to submit a return until 6th April onwards?

19-20 books do you not think that would create a mountain of more work if every self employed person had to get there books up to date now 😂,do you know how long that would take to sort out.
Did you’re accountant used to do Arthur Daley’s books, how could he have that kind of info.

It could be made possible to submit that tax year now because no more work could be done between now and 5th April anyway.

I would imagine that the 19/20 year you will be allowed to estimate it.  Any deficit when filing actual returns will be added to your tax bill

Don’t think there is any way you will be getting 80% of your average weekly income after tax. The figure I heard is 80% up to a maximum of £1700 per month
