Why the hostility
« on: March 24, 2020, 08:45:35 pm »
Over the last few years I have browsed this forum and I have only started looking lately ,as myself was looking for clues to what other window cleaners are doing regards working in the current  climate and really amazed by the hostility from people who are not working ,which is totally their choice ,towards those who need to  support themselves and their family in absence of government help or  feel that in this occupation you can safely carry on working ,taking steps not to have contact with customers ,vunerable or not  . I myself worked today after a lot of thought and was really pleased with the reaction by the customers, leaving payment in envelopes and many thanking me for coming and to continue. I was always a safe distance away and seeing people saying you should be ashamed to work is quite laughable .
If you don't want to work that's your choice ,just move on ,but the government today very clearly wish us to carry on.

The same ones who thought just over week ago the virus was over hyped 😁

Good post though.  It's a stressfull time for us all.  Everyone's decision is their own and needs it's respect

I’ll wait till the announcement tomorrow i think he will list some that can work although even then it will be working alone, they’ve sat down and worked out how much  tree surgeons builders will cost the economy if they make that decision after what they’ve been saying it’ll be a surprise.

All this will be a waste of time very soon anyway.  I recon we are days away from a full lock down.

Yeah, I reckon Friday there will be an announcement.

The people getting nasty because they didn't work are doing so because they are covering the fact they misunderstood what the MP said. It's easier then admitting they got it wrong. I'm all for stopping if you can, but they were stopping because they thought they were told to. If these guys are so concerned about the public and people dying, why didn't they stop work last week?

Who's wrong?
I didn't work because of the coronavirus. The coronavirus is still killing people and is probably going to get worse before it gets any better. Because of that the government will do something very soon.

I havn't been nasty to anyone. However my last day was Tuesday last week. I was met at the door with someone who had Coronovirus, i posted about it at the time. I got no warning about this. I went to work the next day, i knew i was meeting no one, i got that sort of wrong as although i actually "met" no one they where all in and didn't come near the door. I couldn't face going out knowing i'd took cash of someone with Corona. I havn't worked since. Its not like i'm going to be cleaning my Hotels now is it ? Its not like i'm going to be cleaning the retirement appartments i usually clean (i have to go through for a lot of them). So yes i am concerned, and yes i did stop last week before any announcements. I've never needed anyone to tell me not to light a match near petrol.

I guess because the ones who didn’t work thought it was morally wrong to do so and thought it was the right thing to do under the circumstances.

... and besides the sun was out!.

I feel I should stay at home too but rather than get angry over it, I prefer to observe others cracking after only one day.

The way I see it, the people who decide not to work are perfectly entitled to do so and their decision not to go to work should be respected. The people who decide to work are also perfectly entitled to do so,  as they have been told by those in power that it is safe to do so if they take the necessary precautions and follow guidelines,  so their decision to go to work should also be respected.
Love and peace everybody😘

For many self employed people its not a choice its more a case of do you want to feed your children i have some savings but not enough to pay all my bills for 2 or 3 months or longer

Most people spend more on cars, motorbikes, hobbies as opposed to food for their children. FACT.

The meltdown that everyone on here is having today, knowing that sh¡t is getting serious, I had towards the back end of last week.

Like the UK being 2 weeks behind Italy, you lot on here are 1 week behind me.  ;D

Lives come first....we all have to make sacrifices, no matter how painful. Just be thankful you are not a casualty of this corona virus or a nurse or doctor, they have families who they are worried about.
My ex is a nurse and she tells me in confidence she is scarred and nothing scares her! She has to isolate from her family and sleep near work and her life is work and sleep at the moment and nothing else whilst fearing for her vulnerable mother who is very old, with illness and very fragile. Her daughter has asthma, she is worried sick about her as she works in a care home.
I'm an ex veteran myself and it is a gut wrenching feeling when you are told you have to play your part in war and conflicts, you have to suck it up and just get on with it for the sake of others.
Have a heart and stay home for the sake of your families, your loved ones, your friends and for yourself.

What I find surprising  is the ones who are boasting about what they earn per hour are the ones that are panicking beacause they cannot afford to take time off , something doesn’t add up to me if you cannot afford to take three months off without pay you don’t run a very successful buisness , and arnt being truthful about your earnings
