You mentioned all your family has had the virus, you need to check with the Health Authorities. If you havn't and someone finds out   then you'll be in trouble.

It could be a lot of people in trouble then (my missis believes she's had it too, but she's Welsh and daft):

https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/24/coronavirus-may-already-infected-half-uk-population-12451012/

I don't believe it, but my missis had the dry cough and a bad cold.  It lasted about a week too, though lingered for longer.

This was in early/mid February; had she got those symptoms now, she'd be in isolation.

Yep she would but with that you would know its just a cold and the cough is a result of that.
However saying that, their is fundamentally some similar symptoms and this is why we are told to look out for such n such but it also effects each person differently as well.   Some have been fine one moment and the next dropping like flies with no warning.

as my wife is a key worker

I'd love to take time off and rely on a woman keeping me in housing and food, but unfortunately I have to work.
Ahh poor you, well I suppose if your that desperate you got to do what you got to do.

They’ll need more than that purely with the amount  of selfish, brain dead morons still working from this forum alone.

No need for name calling and certainly to post it twice  ;D ;D

Please explain how our work is risking peoples lifes if precautions are taken and the government allows it, along with take away places / shops/super markets which are restricting access to 30 people at a time (around here any way) and other such like businesses??

You’ll find out in about 3 days when you can’t even leave the house. Probably because of non key workers like you desperately chasing a few pennies.

For the sake of a few weeks maximum being told, no asked nicely to stay in, you will probably be forced to stay in for far, far longer.

The problem with that thinking is thinking that it wasnt inevitably going to be the case anyway!!

So please tell me as im still confused. When you do your shopping is it online and does the delivery person drop them at the door and move away etc.  You see, i know that people will have come into contact and seen more people than i would i  perhaps two days of work.  Hence my confusion at your outright anger and name calling.

Thoughts?

Yes.  It's going to go on for another 18 months, at least; get it in while you can.

Back to the original post. The word is volunteer and it's the RVS (the chaps and chapesses that bring you a cuppa while you wait for the doc to tell you the latest on granny) and you can drive, do errands etc.

You can volunteer to free up the more skilled workers and you can volunteer the hours to suit you.

So even if you are still working you can volunteer.
It's a game of three halves!

So the country needs volunteers to help NHS staff anyone here going to sign up? I've looked into it a bit but as my wife is a key worker and has to go to her work I'm not sure i can as i have the kids to look after, going to ask their school tomorrow to see if they would take them.
How about you!  or is window cleaning more important  ;D
School will take your kids if one parent is a key worker.
You've got to consider school holidays, as well. I have thought about doing something temporarily but the holidays would still be a problem.
It will be probably be different from council to council, but Fife Council are keeping the ‘activity centres’ as they are being called, open during the Easter holidays.

Let's make it less dangerous for them then.
Stay in and save the NHS.

Another kept man whose missis is a key worker.

There's a pattern happening here. ;D
Sexist and a flouter. You've got thirty pieces of silver to keep you going until you get locked down. Was it worth it?
I'm working from home, flouts. There's more than one way to skin an NHS.
Well done.

Go away with your Bible nonsense; save that for your church on Sunday while your priest struggles to explain why pandemics happen.

Demons probably. ;D

Is flouting one of the seven deadly sins?

Is that what your priest teaches?

No, but is greed is. Our priest doesn't teach me owt. I'm content with what I know.
My Dad taught me never to flout or to be a scab. He isn't greedy and respects the NHS, bless him.

Why do you assume that if a wife is a key worker then the husband is a ‘kept man’?

Being a key worker hardly guarantees bringing home a top wage. My wife’s a key worker and earns around 1/3 of what I do. It’s also not clear at this point if she will be getting paid anything at the moment. (Private school and have threatened disciplinary for anyone missing work that isn’t isolating)

Does that make me a kept man?

Good post. It’s the assumptions of the truly stupid to think a key NHS worker earns a fortune. My other half has 2 degrees (proper ones, ologys, not like weakly) and is in the front line. I am a thicko and earn probably 3 times her wage.

It’s interesting to see most of you that are strongly suggesting people stay home have another income coming into the house that they can live off.

Would your views be the same if in 4 weeks time you couldn’t pay the bills?

Serious question btw. Would you choose bankruptcy over going to work as safe as possible?
