Is Ian lancaster still the man to talk to about franchising?

I've heard people say his Contract/model is outdated?

Anyone with any info on how to go about getting started? If not Ian who do you speak to and where to get contracts from etc?

Anyone know the best route to take to find out more?

That helps considerably when franchising.

There does seem to be many it works for, but does have down sides.

I would say the contract is good but needs updating in a few places which I’ve done.

As for franchising its not for everyone but I really enjoy it. I’ve expanded the business and not got employment stress.

There isn’t another agreement out there so it means getting one made by a solicitor.

I had silly quotes that ran into thousands so I stuck with Ian’s and modified it a bit.

Thing is with franchising it’s rare to ever have to pull it out or quote from it really.

I’ve just signed up another chap tonight and he was impressed with the agreement.

More than happy to chat on the phone or email about it as I always get new ideas from people.

If so, that’s a quite a lot of wok to drum up for them in the mean time?

New franchisees start with a handful of business (normally new customers I've been cleaning while getting them going). Then, at the rate work comes in, they're kept flat out for the first summer just keeping up with first cleans. You've probably forgotten what you were like but people are pretty slow at the start. Target by the end of the summer is £30,000 turnover. That number's pretty much what first year franchisees can manage in the shorter hours of winter. The next summer, we try to get them to £50,000.  After that, we agree a long-term target between us and we get them there.

We take 20% of turnover.

a franchisee i know says he  turns over around £55k a year and only gives his boss 10%.......thats £10k more than i earn on my own but i dont work half as many hours as he does....
