What are the changes coming into effect regarding diesel vans  with emmisions etc. in a few years     Is it worthwhile  looking @ petrol vans if needed  for the future if looking to update

The problem with petrol van's are they usually dont have many available and the payload is usually lower..I'd go diesel if I were you....

price higher/work harder!

Ad blue is a diesel system cleaner normally fitted to buses and trucks,but now being introduced to taxis, I believe a lot of vans now have the system too.
Petrol vans are pretty hard to come by unless you are looking at Berlingo size. The likes of Transits and similar size vans don’t do petrol, unless you buy brand new.  It’s going to be electric from 2035; but what the greenies have overlooked is where is all the power going to come from for the electric charging points.

Do a search on auto van trader and you'll find about 14500 diesel and only approx 250 petrol of which some listings aren't even vans. All my works within a 3 mile radius and my mechanic told me I'd be better getting a petrol but a decent sized petrol van is  like looking for rocking horse poo.

Ad blue does help with emissions resulting in up to 90% water vapour coming out the exhaust.

Yes there is a cost to this.

Unless I regularly travelled in a congestion anti diesel zone I'd stick with diesel. Exception being if I could get away with a low payload and low daily mileage. But then electric is becoming more viable.

is there a year registration when Adblue has been installed on vans.    how can you check if a van has Adblue installed/         These add ons mean more expense in years to come ive heard.       Same as DPF Filters getting messed up .   if not topped up regularly

not all vans have adblue...mines a 17 plate...connect L2 240
price higher/work harder!

Some good deals on  ford vans when I have just looked.      im too used to my drivers side door on my dispatch atm     access to this side when parked on my driveway,  fill tank up etc

PSA seem to have gone down the Adblue route. Other manufacturers have gone down the regenerative braking route.
Most manufacturers using Adblue have an Adblue filler cap next to the diesel filler cap.

I'm pretty certain that Ford have gone down the regenerative braking route.

This 62 plate Boxer van I now have has a DPF filter. I don't do many long trips and have no idea when regen is working. It just does it automatically, no warning lights on the dash etc.
The dpf system is working as there isn't any soot on the exhaust pipe; its clean. Not like the previous van without a dpf filter. MOT says particle emissions are as per the info plate in the engine bay.

Daz, yours is a Transit Connect. It could well be that the Custom uses different methods to meet emission standards.

I've looked at the owner's manual for a 2018 Ford Custom. It tells me that the Adblue tank holds 22 liters.
I haven't looked closely enough but I can't see where its filler is located.

Ford have 2 engines apparently in the Custom - a 2.0l Eco and a 2.2 Tdci. It could also be that the Adblue filler is for one and not the other.

Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration and 2% attention to detail!

The older I get, the better I was ;)

my new Fiat Doblo has ad blue and so far in 5k miles I have poured 1 bottle into it at £12, its covered under a 5 year warranty so there won't be any issues

Primary issue with the Ford Ad BLue is that it gives you a mileage countdown to a point at where it won't start without refilling.
That's fine until you refill it and it doesn't realise it's been refilled - typically occurs below 4c.
It is possible to reset but it often involves a visit to a dealer - which tends to be expensive.
It's been causing a few problems of the Ranger Forums.

its no problem if you can top up yourself,     but if the engine management is computerised to go into limp mode  when it reaches a certain mileage or level  needs re setting then if you have to get a mechanic to look at it , nightmare ,     

there are certain areas in a van you just cannot reach.      you may need special tools to use ,

The Custom has used the 2.0 litre engine since 2016, the 2.2 duratorq engine was used prior to 2016. The Adblue filler is located behind the fuel flap right next to the fuel filler.
