Sat in van after just packing up at a house just at the side of a busy school, now home time for the kids. As a group of young lads walked by, they commented on the van sign saying window cleaner. Then one of the lads said, how much do they cost and the other young lad said around £2.50! To which he replied, i wont be seen dead cleaning windows then
( probably kids were under 12 mind you, but i dont think they want to get into window cleaning when they leave school
My mother's uncle was around 80 years of age. He owned a successful plumbing business in Johannesburg called F A Sharman (Pvt) Ltd.
He visited us when we were on holiday once with his 1957 Dodge, black in colour with airconditioning and a chauffeur.
I was 5 years old and was taken in by all this opulence.
"Uncle Fred, please can you teach me to be a plumber".
"Of course I will. When you finish school just let me know and I will arrange to teach you to be a plumber."
I spent the next few years telling everyone I was going to be a plumber and Uncle Fred was going to teach me. I was going to have a brand new Dodge with airconditioning and my own chauffeur.
Then my mother dropped the bombshell; being a plumber also meant dealing with sewage. Then and there I no longer wanted to be a plumber.
So there are other things that are involved with kids making a career choice.
