They'll take me back - Wooo cheers
« on: March 04, 2020, 10:07:14 pm »
Been cleaning this house for 7 yrs, 6 yrs by WFP.  Suddenly the missus doesn't like WFP anymore so can I recommend someone that uses ladders? Err No!

To top it all off 'if' he finds a windy that uses ladders and he turns out to be rubbish apparently he'll call me to continue!

Thought I'd heard it all but this one surprised me even after 10yrs in the job. Nowt queer as folk.

Dumped or me sacked whichever you like and not replaced by 2 new ones in typical CIU fashion  ;D ;D

Trad window cleaners are becoming less and less as more guys move to the pole........ ;D

If you take her back on in another year or so put her price up too......

price higher/work harder!

I had a right snooty bloke like this a few years ago. His missus was OK but he would make snide comments like "make sure you wipe the cills" and "that was quick".

Anyway he was in and his wife comes out to pay and says ...

"(Husband's name) wants to know if you can recommend someone who can do it the old way."

Me: "Why would he want that? Are the windows not clean enough?"
Her: "He thinks you're too quick for the money."
Me: "I'm quite happy to discuss it with him as he's home."
Her: "No need, but do you know of anyone who can use ladders?"
Me: "Yes. Your husband."
Her: (Getting huffy) "That's not very helpful."
Me: "I don't feel like being helpful when someone asks me who I recommend to replace me."
Her: "Well you'd better carry on cleaning until we find someone."
Me:  "I've decided not to."
Her  "What do you mean."
Me: "I've decided not to work for you and your husband, I don't like your attitude."
Her: (Speechless)

It's a game of three halves!

I lost 3 customers last year to a guy using WFP via Pure trolley
He quoted lower prices to what I was charging. All 3 customers came back to me . One of the customers said he hardly used any water when washing the glass leaving the windows dirty.

Then they are the first to moan they can't find a window cleaner, not surprised when it's a race to the bottom on prices.  Been toss weather since middle of September here in the south west and winds have been exceptionally strong. It's been a necessity sometimes to clean in the rain but the combination of strong winds and rain going sideways is taking the biscuit so to charge peanuts would leave naff off reserves to fall back on in extreme lousy weather we've been experiencing for such a long time now.
