Canvassing
« on: March 02, 2020, 06:34:46 pm »
Hi everyone,
I am rebuilding my round from scratch and was doing leaflets in Jan with JogPost
but trying to canvass to get back on proper round sooner.
I am not afraid to canvass and have no bad feelings doing it, I even enjoy it, but for some reason after 1.5 - 2 hours feel so tired of it (regardless of results )
Guys who canvass - do you get that ? How do you cope ? Or am I just lazy ? :)

Regards
Vik

I've added about 20k to the rounds in the past 12 months through canvassing alone.

A little and often is the way to go, just keep chipping away at it.

It is possible to do long days of it, I've done up to 7.5 hours, not including breaks.

Good luck.

I do 10am - 3pm and that's enough for me at a weekend.

My canvasser is out come rain or shine but only does 3-4 hours of a day  tops, he says its exhausting and is glad that the hours are short otherwise he would’nt still be doing it after ten years. How did you find using Jogpost and did you go for the “Ride a long “ to see the drop in action  ?? as I’m going  book a drop with them in April and am worried if there trust worthy, I got my quote off a guy called Harvey.

Thanks Dean

I had very bad results for those Leaflets. I delivered 15k and got 21 regular jobs. O know that Leaflets bring much better results normally

They did my drop in January, and we had lots of rain for last few months. Maybe that's the reason

I did not do ride along. But company seems trustworthy, have been to they office to meet them.

What kind of results do you get from your canvasser ? Prices might be different, but maybe how many customers he gets on average per hour or per week ?

Good footwear are and plenty of breaks but essentially full days are absolutely doable.

Re jog post I thought the Royal Mail are the ones these days.

I am trying RM this time, but why you say that ? Has it been issues with jogpost service ?

January is a very strange time to start a big leafleting campaign, especially considering the weather that we have had.

I first went canvassing on sunday jan3rd 1993 in the snow Danny...I picked up 3 customers.....I'm still cleaning one of the original customers...I now have 90+jobs on this estate.....

I have, but what is there to do with Lee ? He used jogpost and was recommending then, then he use RM I believe.
But is there known  issues with jogpost ?

2/3 hours and I get canvassed out! I think it is due to the repetitive approach.
I can do 2 hours of window canvassing then 2 hours of milk canvassing but  never 4 hours solid of just 1!

Yes but canvassing and leaflet dropping are very different Daz.

Trying to get somebody to look at a leaflet and pick up the phone to arrange a window cleaner, whilst it’s dark outside and hasn’t stopped raining for weeks on end is not going to be easy. As his results have shown.

He's one of the blokes that's really done a lot of leafleting along with some others.
Apparently Royal Mail are highly recommended now.

thats what he said in 2009

I dont rate leafleting at all. we had 120,000 done through royal mail last year at a cost of £7000 and didnt even get half of the modest figure we predicted. However i do think that many for £300 is a very good price. I think door knocking is a much better way to spend your time. but as you have them now try to find a teenager to join you for some pocket money and cover the area twicw as fast.

I wonder what kind of results he gets from RM now

Hehe well that is old. I'm sure he deserves the right to change his mind completely.

When you do a clean, canvass and leaflet a few doors each side of the house and across the road. "We clean the Gibsons at No21 and wondered if you would like to take advantage of our services." Leaflet them again after the next clean.

It always seems that once we got a single house in a street we got a few around about.

Ask your existing customers who of their local friends wants a window cleaner. Our round was built on recommendations by existing customers who trust us.
