I agree but good news doesnt sell.   Its more important for them to sell the negatives rather than the positives

Hard to disagree with that.

Facebook isn't helping either.

The government is bringing in legislation to be able to shut down mass gatherings, shut all shops, cafes, bars, clubs, leisure centres, airports and to shut borders,etc......

Asking people over 70s to self isolate for up to 4 MONTHS is going to cause a big backlash and open rebellion....not a chance!!!!
My dad will be dead soon anyway(he has stage 4 lung cancer)....theres no way he can stay in for 4 days nevermind 4 months......he likes to get out if he s well enough even if it's only for an hour or two.....

Do you know what the word 'exponential' means?

You know that the Harold Shipman might have a higher body count - at present - but it's not going to end that way.

Not for many elderly or those for those underlying health problems.

And if you need treatment for something else; good luck with that in the near future.

Some will, some won't, some are doing it already.

A friend's in-laws won't visit for their granddaughter's 1st birthday party (they're Remain snowflakes).

Whereas another friend's parents say "The government are NOT grounding us!!!" (they're Brexiteers).

I'm just guessing their political affiliations based on their level of snowflakery.

Friend of ours is the gym manager of virgin gym in Mayfair.

She’s had two staff signed off with stress. (Both early 20’s)

And the gym has been very quiet.  With lots of people putting their payments on hold.  Plus next to none new people signing up.

The health club industry is really REALLY going to struggle if it all gets worse.

Self employed PT’s are gonna be panicking, less people wanting to go to the gym for PT sessions.

Window cleaners should get off reasonably lightly if lockdown occurs. (Provided we are still allowed to work)

Not good times for many industries.

My local gym was dead on Friday. Only a handful of people in. Very odd. I worry they will struggle as most people pay with no cancellation contract. So can cancel direct debit like a click of the finger.

I think so too, though I can think of some of our best accounts; commercial type stuff; dropping us or putting us on pause in the near future.

And I have a sideline in photographing running races; I can't see much of that happening; and it was an ever-growing part of my income.

Still; can't complain, this is going to hurt a lot of people.

I keep thinking holiday companies are going to be going under.

I have been about to book a trip away to Egypt, that won't be happening now for a little while.

We've got a week in the lakes booked for May, not even sure we'll be doing that at the moment.

Have had a weekend in the lakes this weekend. There’s no better (safer?) place to be than up a mountain in the middle of nowhere with not another soul in sight.

If we’re put into lockdown I’d even consider getting a cheap air bnb up there for a couple of weeks and spend some quality time with the family enjoying the outdoors.

Yeah but you then have to come back down the mountain and enter the pub/hotel etc and mingle with the great unwashed.

If I get any customers wishing to cancel for financial reasons due to Coronavirus I will be offering a less frequent service with a deferred payment option for these customers until it all blows over.

We've recently bought rucksacks, lightweight sleeping bags, tent, cooking equipment, water purification filter (not for window cleaning, for drinking from streams 'n' stuff) and we plan to keep away from humans.

But this was planned well before the coronavirus.

Honest.

I'm not a screaming Remain snowflake.

If they cant afford £10-£20 every month/2 months then they must be really in a financial meltdown and will probably cancel altogether  :(

I clean the windows of a garden centre with a busy restaurant; I also know the owner socially because he's a member of the running club.

He tells me they're in dire already because of three weeks of bad weather (the constant storms) and now there's a massive drop off due to the coronavirus.

It's not looking good for him or his staff, never mind the window cleaners.

Then there's all the offices we do; they'll probably stop if everything goes under 'martial law'.

And what about the posh wedding venue we do; one of my top paying jobs from a ease and £ per hour basis.  Will people defer their dream wedding till later in the year?

Probably.

But normal run of the mill domestic should be fine.

Not really. I’d rent a cottage out of the way and have very minimal contact with anybody for as long as possible. That would be quite easy for me tbh as I generally don’t like people very much anyway.
