Your back already
« on: January 30, 2020, 10:00:07 am »
I clean every six weeks, I am getting so many customers saying to me, ''has it been six weeks already, or, not you again'' or questions like do you do longer times of cleaning windows, gets you down anyone else getting alot of this.

For decades mate. Sometimes I think it's just something to say.

We offer 4, 8 and 12 weekly. The prices vary, some of the lower frequency work is our best earning work, you just need more of it.

Could it just be the time of year ? Xmas break was typically 2 weeks for many  -  May sound silly but can play with people's perspective of time. Plus rubbish weather and a long month, people often stretched financially.  Just offer those asking a 12 weekly option for a 50% rise.  Don't deviate from it, they can take or leave.

Some people like the thought of having a window cleaner but don't like the thought of paying for one so will complain about anything, I guarantee if you go to 8 weeks come the summer they will be complaining about you not cleaning often enough, put up with these types until you're in the position to dump them.

Good luck Matt

As said many a time on here the answer is always more customers

When you have more work if you’re not quite full up?

Tell customer politely if they don’t want a regular 6 weekly service that’s fine

You’ll give their space to someone else
be slowly backing away as your say this with one shoulder pointed at them

Usually works for me 👍

Had to do that the other day
Customer been on round about 18 months

Use to make tea ☕️ doesn’t now, as second time,
I have had this chat(sooner or later she’ll get binned)

Did it to one of her neighbours,
Their back on the books and more appreciative 👍
£20 Xmas tip.

(Basically snobs, probably think I should be paying them to clean their
Windows).

Worst ones sometimes tea maker gas bags

Think they own you!

If anyone pee’s me off enough now
They just get left out

Im happy to have your custom

“As long as you want me to clean your windows, monthly?”

Stay polite
Some come back, some don’t 🤷‍♂️

Some people will always try it on.

Bullies only understand strength

I do have a few 2 monthly jobs but they are £50 jobs

Most People won’t pay £30 upwards for a monthly service

So I make it £35 monthly or £50 2 monthly
But these are stand alone jobs

I don’t do 6 in a road @monthly
With one in the same road 2 monthly

Gets too complicated keeping that
In sync

Tried it years ago othering too many schedules
Stress 🤦‍♂️

I don’t work in rain only drizzle
So round got all out of schedule 😁

Switching from 6 to 8 weekly was the best thing I ever done. No one ever moans now, in fact they look forward to seeing me as their windows definitely need cleaning.
When I switched all customers I also put all prices up by £2 - £3 and explained that although the individual price has risen, over the course of the year it works out cheaper. I only lost 1 customer.
Overall it meant my 6 weekly round was now stretched out to 8 weekly, giving me more free time and with the price rise earning pretty much the same money. Win win..

Finally someone has mentioned what I’ve always been saying about being to regular, now imagine charging over 50 or 100 quid a clean and being on the dot every 4 weeks lol if it’s happening for you I can’t see it lasting.
The best interval between cleans unless it’s specified by the customer is 6-8-10 weeks,as I’ve said before when you clean 4 weekly or monthly it’s round in a flash it probably does feel like a couple of weeks to them without them exaggerating.

I dont have many priced at £50 or above, but the ones which do are cleaned 8 wkly.
For me, customers £25 or under are 4 - 5 wkly and over £25 are 8 wkly.
However, i think in this case, its just the time of year for it.  Straight after xmas, dry jan and all of that can make forna grumpy, tight month for most.
For me, im happy to suggest skip this clean and be back to normal from feb and that is normally all its about. My four weekly have been so for many years (a huge amount over 18yrs)

Maybe your right NWH

I think window cleaning is a luxury service not essential.

So has to be aimed at the people that can actually afford it.

Luxury cars are not essential but every other person seems to have a
BMW Audi Lexus Range Rover etc etc

Point being a lot can’t really afford to run them that’s why you always see them on the hard shoulder of the motor with the bonnet up

Most people would probably like an app on there phone

When they push it you appear

I can’t be all things to all people

At the moment most seem happy with monthly

I do realise that when it starts creeping to over £30 a month people
Will kick

So offer 2 monthly to bigger houses
Happy to have days where my hourly rate is more 👍

It’s stopped raining to biggish monthly houses to finish 😁

Nathan might be a good approach

People seem to take kindness as weakness where I am down south😁

Once I give the nod to a messer it doesn’t stop 🤦‍♂️

Need to define what a messer is though,
Customers who have been with me a while and ask to skip jan, I dont mind. Provided its only one or two, because lets face it, it isnt going to make you broke is it!
However, if as sometimes it happens, where good customers do turn into messers and you see it happening.  These ones get one chance and one chance only.
Yet, when youve been doing this work for a while, you can see signs of a messer before you get to their house and then when you meet them, you have a gut feeling.  If you still take them on, then fine whilst it last but as soon as it turns, they get dropped.

You make it sound that because you think this that its like this across the board for everyone, for all window cleaners.

It isnt.

We’ve all got a mix of customers, each with different needs and expectations.

Its a mixed bag. Some of your customers want their windows cleaned more often than others. And more imprtantly you bring your own beliefs and prejudices in to your business model, which you believe everyone else thinks and subscribes to. They dont. Just some do.

I have 1 150 she insists I do it every month but it’s astray money to her,it’s crazy how some people think I used to do a house every month I later found out they had a 5k a month mortgage and 2.5k a month cars on PCP lol.
He came out and said to me a few years ago when I cleaned it can we leave it till I let you now I said no problem 150 a month,we are on the top 2 list of things to go at least if you are there BI monthly this time of year you’ll only see them a couple of times and then before you know it they want them cleaning from end of March onwards.

very rarely does this happen to me and i have a lot of 4 weekly work,i also have 6 weekly,8 weekly,12 weekly,bi annual and annual jobs!if they do its only a light hearted comment and i smile and crack on as usual.....

also you must be late on some of your 6 weekly jobs as its only 4 weeks since the xmas break!(well it is for me because i didnt start back until the 6th jan)

i wouldnt put them all on 8 weekly just because of a few comments!unless your really overloaded with work.......
price higher/work harder!
