Hose through the van floor??
« on: January 11, 2020, 03:11:06 pm »
I currently have two hose reels (not electric) bolted down in the back of the van.

The hoses do get caught from time to time in the gap between the doors or just get snagged on the door itself.

Is the best solution cutting through the van so the hoses can run below?

Can it be done DIY or do you need someone else to do it?

Also is there a specialist bit of kit/roller you can buy to fit the hole?

Cheers chaps

I’ve just bought this roller guide. Going to fit It tomorrow, they are apparently very good

Just need a core drill bit, no reason why you can’t do it yourself.

They create too much friction and make winding hose back onto the reel hard work.

Depends what rollers you use and how you set it up , we have only recently gone over to electric reels but had hand wind in through rollers for years no problem

What about one of these or I guess two, one for each hose?

Bit pricey tho.

I have tried several set up s over the years the waterworks ones that go through the floor works well not the one in your picture that’s designed to leave the back doors open. They arnt cheap you can find all the bits you need to do the job on the internet and do it a bit cheaper yourself  it’s not difficult to do if you have average diy skills .

I’ll give it a go. 99% of the time I can leave the van doors open without issue, this is just for an option when I want to be able to close the doors.
