So whats everyone decided to do?
« on: January 06, 2020, 01:21:23 pm »
With GoCardless, price increases.   Are you staying or have you found an alternative?

A while ago, I posted on my facebook page about a price increase to be expected and briefly explained the reason.  Ive decided to increase prices by 40p to cover the charge and future changes. This is for existing customers and I just need to be mindful when pricing new work up to add a pound to my usual price.  This will more than cover the fees and make a little extra for comfort as well.
So adding a message on this months invoice/emails to all my customers.

How many customers do you have on go cardless?

I haven’t offered that as an option yet.

Fees would be pretty large for me. :(

Because of the trouble in Iran there may be a fuel price increase, going to text all my customers explaining this to them, hopefully  this will help them understand my need to up their prices by 34.5p, I do feel for Nathans customers lol.

I would absorb it for existing customers
Nathan- particularly if you have dictated or heavily encouraged the payment method. I wouldn't take too kindly to a financial increase in those circumstances- principle alone! You are charging customers, (who don't have to use you) extra for the privilege of paying you. Think about that.

Additional fees/things getting dearer are one of the reasons that I up my prices, but I don't need to tell my customers or expect them to care that I have additional fees, it makes you sound desperate.

Thats because in the last six months or so, i have rapidly grown my business (as mentioned in prior months in new areas and so a sudden small increase needs to be explained.  Obviously no need for nee work or older work as these are due to increase anyway, but for some, a reason is needed.

Haha, the amount of times silly name calling happens on here is amazing.  Wonder what would happen if we all met up at some point 🤷‍♂️

Yep 20p per transaction on top of the %fee, so an extra £2 per ten clients on GoCardless.   Why absorb that cost when it can be absorb per customer.

I’d quite happily call you a muppet to your face to be honest.

Get off the forum at 1300 and clean an extra house.
That should cover any extra charges you may get.

That advice will be 2% plus 10p for every transaction, thanks.
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

I think its a valid topic nathan

My initial reaction was to abandon go cardless as it is a big increase

but after some thought i will just add £1  to any future quotes

It has put me off offering to existing customers though, no need to be adding fees when they pay fine by bacs

Yep, totally agree but as I said, this is for existing clients whos prices are already good and a lot who have just joined me within last several months and a little too soon dont you think to change their price. Hence a small increase to cover the cost a little without upsetting them.  I did say this in a previous post.

personally i think your gonna pee new customers off if you put them up 40p after a few cleans esp if you email them one of your long winded explanations...... ::)roll........surely you can absorb the extra cost if its only a few customers?

just make sure you charge another quid on top of your normal price for new jobs in the future.....

i wouldnt mess about with 40p rises....

Instead of sitting in your van pulling your plums go and clean an extra house.

I'd gladly pay 40p a month to not receive an explanation.

Let’s see this ‘brief’ explanation that you put on your FB page Nathan.

Knowing how you like to massively over complicate even the smallest of things I’d  bet it’s a great read 😂😂

same here......its 3 years since i put a lot of jobs up at once.......the thing is some customers think its only been a year, time goes so fast!ill notify customers a month or two before either with a short text,a little note on their slips or face to face.....i very rarely need to explain myself,if i do its usually jobs im putting up a quid!...paradoxically its not usually the larger jobs that go up a fiver that query the rise!

price higher/work harder!
