New Turbo? Fiat doblo multijet
« on: January 02, 2020, 11:44:04 am »
Hello Guys

Further to my post the other day

Regarding engine management light
Fiat doblo multijet 2014 plate

I had a mobile mechanic £45 to do diagnostics
Don’t know if money wasted

Code: P2563 turbo charger boost control position sensor A
Circuit range / performance

He reset but engine management light, came back on.

Mechanic pointed to unit by turbo
He reckons £200

But he can’t do job difficult to get to bolt 🤔

I’m starting to suspect a new turbo unit as exhaust smells

White smoke, But not loads

I thought when turbo is knackered
You get clouds and clouds of smoke ?

I went to local garage he said he can’t look at it until next week

I’m gonna go to small one man band Monday who claims to be a fiat specialist
(Earliest he can see me)

Thinking if it is the new Turbo
He might be cheaper

Looked up code and could be an electrical fault
Wishful thinking

Anyone had a new turbo fitted?
To a Fiat doblo multijet

How much?🙆🏻‍♂️

Thanks
Hope your having a better start to the new year than me !

My old man has the Fiat Qubo , car version of my Fiorino with same turbo .
He had to have a new turbo last year , I will call him in a bit to get the lowdown for you

Lee - read again what the faut code is saying. It's NOT saying that the turbo is faulty. Do as I sugested earlier andf give the van a good clear out.

Elfyn,

The code suggests it’s the sensor unit attached to the turbo.

Also I have had other issues recently
Warning lights glowing very faintly

Which some have suggested is an earthing issue.

I’m clueless  but I do think it’s an electrical issue,

Could  be a chaffed wire somewhere which is suggested to check for in Spruces diagnostics code link

If not then sensor unit attached near turbo

Or turbo unit 🤦‍♂️Hope not 🙆🏻‍♂️

I maybe wrong but don’t think it’s best to go for a run
In fourth gear on the motorway as this could do more harm than good

I’m seeing someone Monday who I hope to be a fault finder,
And not a part fitter.

Thanks lee

Sounds to me like the previous owner of your van got shot because it had some issues/gremlin.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks dd

I’ve had the van for 2 years

With issues only happening  fairly recently.

I hope to have van another 2 years 🤞

When I’ve paid off and own
Thinking of buying new or almost

ULEZ Oct 2021 🤦‍♂️
(Believe doesn’t affect my round or maybe 2%)

But believe ULEZ will expand to every one within M25 so diesels are
Being phased out allegedly

Maybe get a couple of horses to pull my van along 🤔😁

Just seen my dad , his management light kept coming on , Fiat ran a diagnostic and said it was the turbo sensor , a week later the light came back on , they then said it was the turbo itself ,  £1800 for a new unit or Fiat do a recon unit for £900 fitted.
I would have the tests done first mate  !

I wouldn't be paying that for a 'genuine' Fiat turbo charger.

I would be looking elsewhere; Example.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Vauxhall-Corsa-Fiat-Doblo-Citroen-Nemo-1-3-JTD-Multijet-51Kw-KP35-Turbo/254239520631?fits=Car+Make%3AFiat%7CModel%3ADoblo&hash=item3b31db3777:g:7XMAAOSwXgRc5OZ5

These dealerships are useless. They should have been able to check the sensor values to see if the sensor is faulty or not. No, we will just bung a new sensor in and see what happens. No diagnostic skills whatsoever because the majority don't give a damn.

When I worked for Citroen there was a box of sensors replaced under warranty sent back from Citroen HQ tested not faulty.

That is exactly how Fiat dealt with it Spruce , got him for a sensor he didn’t need and then  took him for £900 for good measure  ;D

They did get it right with the turbo though !

I ran a doblo for about 5 years with zero issues at all. Never even failed to start!
